Weekly NFL Pick Em'

Last week, I attempted to get everyone to pick every game without the spread, and see who would have the best percentage of correct picks at the end of the year.

So far, after our first week, I have emerged as the clear Pick Em' Champion until someone else steps up.

Below are the results:

Week 10
Dan - 10/14 = 71%
Nick - 6/14 = 42%

Nick, step your game up!

42%?? a 3rd grader can do better. and it should be lower after that embarrassing redskins over eagles pick. obviously minimal nfl knowledge. danny, 71% not too shabby

well if i had known we were turning this into a thing when i started it i would not have made some of the picks i did last week. obviously if i was betting the lease on the browns its with the spread and they covered that so that puts me at 7 and of course i am going to pick against danny and fishs teams like i really thought the skins would win.

so take it for what you want but it was more of a joke than serious picking but apparently i brought another great thread to this board so i will go with it.

week 11

nick 1/1
danny 0/1

step your game up a 3rd grader can do better you have no knowledge blah blah blah. its easy to talk **** from the sidelines

No, I picked 10/14. That **** counts for me. For those who missed Week 10, we will just average all the weeks so its fair.

Lemme start this off by saying if it wasnt for the Pats-Colts and Giants-Eagles this could easily be the worst week of NFL games this year. With the exception of those, only 2 remaining games feature two teams with winning records (one of them being the Seahawks).

Bears @ Dolphins
Made this pick over the phone last night. Bears D is nasty and Tyler Thigpen will be seeing Julius Peppers in his dreams for weeks thanks to the Phins offensive line. FIRE TONY SPORANO!!!

Bills @ Bengals
Peyton Manning threw for 185 yards and no TDs last week and the Bengals were still unable to beat the Colts. Fortunatly for them, the Bills aren't the Colts so they may, may, get the win here.

Raiders @ Steelers
The way I see it the Steelers either use last weeks game as a wakeup call and turn it on for this game, or they continue last years trend of going 6-2 then losing 5 straight. Cutting the weakest link Jeff Reed may be the difference to avoiding a 5 game skid. They are banged up on the line of both sides of the ball but a year later the Steelers are finally ready to unleash hell.

Cardinals @ Cheifs
The Cheifs are looking worse and worse every week. I'm pretty sure teams have figured out that if you stop the run and put the ball in Matt Cassels hands you've got a good chance of winning. Sure he threw for 460 yards last game but when you throw the ball 53 times to your RB and TE against a prevent defense garbage stats become misleading. The problem for the Cardinals is they have even less talent than the Seahawks so the Chiefs bounce back this week from their 2 game losing streak.

Browns @ Jaguars
Went with the Browns last week and lost our apartment... I'm sticking with them

Texans @ Jets
With offenses adapting, coaches will need to rethink the "bat the ball down" rule on hail marys. Santonio Holmes break-out performance? I think so.

Redskins @ Titans
Donovan McNabb should be paying Dan Snyder for that god awful performance he put on last weekend. Also, Laron Landry, if you are going to talk **** about someone for getting knocked unconcious, dont look unconcious on the first play of the game.

Packers @ Vikings
This game would be HUGE if it wasnt for Brett Favre playing like the old guy from the Snicker commercial... "that huurt".

Screen+shot+2010-02-08+at+7.15.03+PM.png

Ravens @ Panthers
HAHA Brian St. Pierre against the Ravens D... Enough said.

Trivia - name all the teams Brian St. Pierre has played on. Answer at the bottom of this post.

Lions @ Cowboys
Cowboys are back and if Wade Phillips didnt run the team into irrelevance they could have made some noise with a late push. JAHVID BEST FOR RPOY!!! *oh wait* DEZ BRYANT FOR RPOY!!!

Falcons @ Rams
Falcons are looking tough, Matt Ryan is the truth and Roddy White continues his case for OPOY.

Bucs @ 49ers
The Troy Smith era continues again this week with a win over the "NFC's best team"

Seahawks @ Saints
Saints were getting hot before the bye and they pick up right where they left off.

Colts @ Patriots
GAME OF THE WEEK. After seeing Bill Belichek expose the Steelers defense like it was Magruder high school, I've got a strong feeling the Pats pull away in this one.

Giants @ Eagles
If you guys didnt turn this into a pick'em game of life or death I'd take the G-Men here. But I wouldn't want to get one wrong or I'll never hear the end of it so Ill go with Vick and the Iggles.

Bolts @ Broncos
The Chargers will make playoffs again this season. Then the Chargers will make an early exit from the playoffs again this season.

NY Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles

In a battle for NFC East supremacy, the NY Giants travel to Philadelphia for what looks to be the biggest game of week 11. Mike Vick has played unbeleivable football, and was virtually unstoppable against the Redskins. However, Vick has not seen a defensive line as talented as the Giants. I expect the pressure to come early and often on Vick. Fish, I'll be waiting for the comments, and I promise I won't delete them.

NY Giants 24 - Philadelphia 23

Indianapolis @ New England

The Indianpolis Colts must have two seperate defense; one they play at home, and the other they play away. The one at home, fearful. The one away, tearful. This is the first year that I have finally come to grips that the New England Patriots are run by one of the best coaches in NFL history. They also have a very strong team this year. I expect home field advantage to prove to critical even for the great Peyton Manning.

Indianapolis 24 - New England 27

And here are the rest of my picks.

Baltimore 27 - Carolina 14
Buffalo 14 - Cinncinati 17
Detroit 21 - Dallas 24
Cleveland 17 - Jacksonville 21>
Arizona 17 - Kansas City 20
Green Bay 24
- Minnesota 23
Houston 24 - NY Jets 20
Oakland 17 - Pittsburgh 23
Washington 20 - Tennessee 23
Seattle 10 - New Orleans 20
Tampa Bay 21
- San Francisco 14
Atlanta 24 - St. Louis 21
Denver 28 - San Diego 31

Memo

To: Email Chain Forum Members
From: Chase Cox, Assistant Co-Moderator
Date: November 19, 2010
Re: Deleted Posts

To Whom it May Concern (Nick):

I have recently received complaints from several members of the forum (Fish), that posts are being deleted without warning, and without reason.

I'd like to take a minute and remind everyone that this is America, and we as Americans have the right to log into a forum, and say whatever to whomever we like.  I believe we defeated Hitler in WWII.

I'd also like to remind everyone that this forum was created for the sole pleasure of continuing the joke making, and embarassing nature of the pre-historic Email chain.

Please, lets allow free speech, no matter how dumb the posts are. And we know they're dumb!

Signed,

Chase Cox

Here I'll recap fishs post so that its like it was never deleted:

"Nick you dont know ****. You always pick the underdog then say "I picked the underdog so it doenst count." You dont know ****. Thats almost as lame of an exuse as picking a team then saying "I was talking about with the spread".  You dont know ****. [ummmm] Nick your NFL knowledge is 0, take this thing seriously or I will call out every incorect pick you make. You dont know **** [ummmm] I could do better but I dont want to do worse so I wont participate. You dont know ****"

There, now its like the post was never deleted, fish made his (very very valid) point, now lets move on.

The raiders like to butt fuÇk me. As soon as I think they're getting their act together, they turn around and throw me in the black hole. That was far and away my worst pick of the weekend. I shan't make that mistake again.

Not a great week of Pick Em' all around. Nick and myself have an opportunity for 11/16 with a San Diego win, while Josh can get 9/16 with a Denver win.

I'd like to say to Fish, Eagles impressed me. The Giants defensive line did everything they could do to win, but Vick's mobility was just to hard to stop at times. That snap on the McCoy touchdown was very close to being another Osi Umenyiora forced fumble. Eli Manning will be kicking himself for that fumble that Casper the Kid Ghost forced. All in all, great win.

Now, the Cinncinati Bengals. You are playing at home, you have one of the best receiver tandems in football. Win right? Looked like a blowout, then you get blown out. You all suck.

Tennesee Titans, as soon as Rusty Smith entered the game, I knew I was going to lose that pick.

Houston Texans, I'm not going to say anything. Two losses in a row in the same fashion? Stay strong.

Pats
@ Lions

Was I just super high or did the Pats/Colts game last weekend not have the same electricity as previous Brady/Manning match-ups? Either way it was a good game and Mannings stable of "hard-workers" ended up failling short on a rare Peyton Manning INT in the final minutes while in field goal range. I picked up on a new adjective for the little white guys -- scrappy. I like it, but unfortunatly these players also need to be associated with another adjective -- fragile.

Pats continue to roll against a Lions team that wants to be good but just cant get there.

Saints @ Cowboys

Jason Garrett has the Cowboys playing like they should have been playing all year. Camp Cupcake is gone and the Boys are finally putting points on the board. Too little too late, and the Saints are just as hot. Drew Brees lights up the scoreboard and the Cowboys lose one of many under Garrett.

Bengals @ Jets

****ing **** bitch **** Santonio Holmes. As much as I hate to see him in a Jets uniform, I LOVE this guy. All he does is make huge plays. He doesnt waste his time with underneath catches or gaining first downs. Only give Holmes the ball when you want a touchdown.

After sweeping the division last year the Bengals have turned into the laughing stock of the NFL. TO gave up on several plays duing the 35-3 meltdown in the second half last week, a record setting day by the 1-8 Buffalo Bills. Carson Palmer is garbage, Chad deserves more, and TO needs to retire.

Jaguars@ Giants

I know Eli Manning is one of the most elusive, fast, exciting players in the NFL but after making such a sweet run you have got to SLIDE!! Eli doesnt know how to slide, he was never taught, and he refuses to try to learn. Oh ****, I thought I was talking about the opposing QB. Watching Eli try to slide reminds me of a certain video clip:

Anyways, if it wasnt for that embarrsing moment Im not so sure the Eagles win that game. Yes the Giants lost, and they lost Hakeem Nicks, but they are still a very good team and the defense continues to play great football.

Steelers @ Bills

Steve Johnson is a beast. An every week fantasy starter. Honestly, hes #7 among WR, who would sit this guy?? Hes fast, has great hands and made a name for himself by going after "Batman and Robin" with his Why So Serious shirt. I like him. Just not this week...

But wait, lets not forget about the best Batman villian of them all (notwithstanding Heath Ledgers amazing performance), the Riddler. The Riddler always caused problems for Batman because he was smart, quick and one step ahead. Enter Mike Wallace. Based on his tweets he seems more intellegent than 95% of the NFL players I follow, hes fast as **** and definatly 1 step ahead of the defensive secondary. Wallace is the new Steve Smith of Carolina (in his prime) and hes only getting better.

Josh picked against the Steelers last week and felt the wrath of a thousand Roethlisbergers. I noticed he didnt make that mistake this week.

Titans @ Texans

Poor Gary Kubiak. Hes so close, yet so far. Hes got a good team especially offensivly but the Texans always flop late in the year. Looks like another 8-8 season with no playoffs, and maybe a pink slip for Mr. Kubiak.

The Titans are in a world of mess. They got a pornstar at QB, Rusty Smith, and Randy Moss is playing more like moss. Yes the soft green stuff on tree trunks that doesnt move and has never made a catch.

Vince Young will be gone at the end of the season, but the meltdown started with the OT loss last week to the guy who didnt even know OT could end in a tie, let alone win a close game.

Packers @ Falcons

GAME OF THE WEEK PART A. There are 2 great games this week, and this is the first. The Falcons have been consistant all season. The Pack have been up-and-down but have won 4 straight. This is a tough pick because I like both teams alot and think they will go deep into the playoffs, maybe even an NFCC game rematch. For this week thou, I have to take the red hot Pack coming off a big win that for the second time this season has gotten the opposing teams head coach fired.

Panthers @ Browns

The Browns are coming along, unfortuatly their savoir Colt McCoy will not play this week, sending them back into non-existance.

BTW, this is easily the who-gives-a-**** game of the week. Is it too late to flex it into prime time??

Vikings @ Redskins

I am a big Lezlie Fraizer fan. Him, COTY Raheem Morris and the great Mike Tomlin all descend from the Tony Dungy coaching tree. Like the Cowboys its too late, but Fraizer will be the coach of this team next season and they will turn in around.

Apparently the Redskins got a win last week, because according to my Redskin fan compadres they are back in Super Bowl contention. Your kicker barely reached the endzone on a 46 yard FG. Anne Frank could have done better...

Chiefs @ Seahawks

Hawks may lead the NFC West, but thats like Jonny Knoxville winning the Special Olympics in The Ringer. 49ers still take this division.

Chiefs keep it rolling though their 2 stud RBs and Dwayne "dammit Nick why did you drop him" Bowe.

Dolphins @ Raiders

That Thursday night game was pretty pathetic. Ill give the Phins a pass since they were down to their 3rd string QB, but the Steelers were down to their 4th and were still winning, so not much sympathy here.

Raiders were slapped around pretty bad on Sunday and were exposed for the mediocre team that they are. Time for Al Davis to bring the Depends back out for gamedays.

Dont like either but I'll throw Channing Crowder a bone and will with the Phins.

Eagles @ Bears

G-Men gave the Bears D the instruction manual for stopping Mike Vick. Bears are quietly playing better than anyone realizes and at 7-3 you have to start taking them seriously.  A win Sunday will force you to start taking them seriously. No way the Eagles win out so lets see what happens if I go with the Bears in Chi Town.

Rams @ Broncos

Ehh, at least the Rams have something that resembles a defense...

Bucs @ Ravens

I am very tempted to go with the upset here, but again, the whole pick'em game of life-or-death thing...

Chargers @ Colts

GAME OF THE WEEK PART B. This will be VERY entertaining and could reach triple digits. Chargers are the hottest team in football and they are reloading this week with Vincent Jackson coming back. Colts just arent the same this year with all the injuries. Can't say I like the Bolts if this were a playoff game based on recent history, but on Sunday November 28th Im going with the Chargers.

49ers @ Cardinals

I'll just let my man Kanye West chime in on the subject of the Arizona Cardinals:

"Got too many Erkles on your team thats why your Wins-low"

Who the hell is the GM of the Arizona Cardinals and why hasnt he been fired. Kurt Warner retired, ok cant do anything about that. But when you let Anquan Boldin, Antrelle Rolle and Carlos Dansby go without even trying to keep them you are either lazy or stupid. And oh yea, Fitz is getting a little restless too.

something about using a 2 week average vs 1 week worth of picks to determine standings doesnt seem right but OK commish.

And fish is treating these picks like a friday/saturday night in Bmore. Hype everyone else up to get ****-face wasted then stay sober and laugh at their drunken mistakes

Nick, pretty good picks. I think you need to admit by now that the 49ers are not good and will not win the division. But, you better hope they do, because your bold prediction states that they will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl!

something about using a 2 week average vs 1 week worth of picks to determine standings doesnt seem right but OK commish.

And fish is treating these picks like a friday/saturday night in Bmore. Hype everyone else up to get ****-face wasted then stay sober and laugh at their drunken mistakes

The reason Josh does not get penalized is because as soon as he was better informed of the greatness of the game, he jumped on board. Don't worry it will all even itself out in the end. Let's just say if Josh wins, it will be like the Steelers winning Week 7 versus the Dolphins. It's counted as win, but we all know it's really not!

i will admit that the 49ers arent as good as they could be but i still think they win the NFC west

Yes, and the Redskins can still win the NFC East.

haha u guys always do this **** on my most busy day and i dont just wanna look at it real quick and pick who i think is better and go 4/16. ill do it for the playoffs when i can properly analize the matchup. and o by the way, im at least 1/14 cuz i picked eagles both weeks. and o by the way nick, dont start talkin **** about my great ability to rally the troops into drinking/having a good time and turn it into a bad thing. its not my fault people tend to go with me and fear for there lives when u attempt to get them to drink by saying "let me pour out a 700cc shot of jack for u!" or "lets buy shots of jager until one of us throws up or can no longer tolerate the smell of it."

I plan on going 16/16 this week. Hate to say it, but the one game I'm least confident about is Miami vs. Oakland.

Minnesota at Washington
This is probably the best match-up the Vikings can ask for. I'm going to keep the theme going of interim head coaches getting their first win. With Chilly finally gone, the team is going to rally around their new popular head coach. Sometimes, you got to look deeper than just numbers and records. Extra bold prediction, Brett Favre does not finish the game...

Minnesota 31 - Washington 21

Kansas City at Seattle
Kansas City hasn't been this competitive since Trent Green and Priest Holmes were on the roster. However, I like Seattle in this match-up. Seattle's only loss at home is against the Giants. Seattle is one of the hardest places in the NFL to travel to.

Kansas City 21 - Seattle 28

Here are the rest of my picks.

New England 31 - Detroit 24
New Orleans 28 - Dallas 27
Cinncinati 10 - New York Jets 17
Green Bay 24
- Atlanta 21
Pittsburgh 24 - Buffalo 23
Carolina 10 - Cleveland 14
Tennessee 21 - Houston 31
Jacksonville 24 - New York Giants 28
Miami 24
- Oakland 23
Tampa Bay 17 - Baltimore 19
Philadelphia 31
- Chicago 14
St. Louis 21 - Denver 31
San Diego 31 - Indianapolis 34
San Francisco 21 - Arizona 24

Nick, I got one issue with your picks that I just realized. How do you pick the Browns to beat the division leading Jaguars, they barely lose, then decide that the Carolina Panthers are going to travel away and beat the Browns? No chance they win. No chance.
