WOW-with pot now being legal in CO and WA, honey badger annoucned he is transfering to the university of Washington! just kidding, hes going pro. with that said, sign me up for a mid round pick on him!
i thought the same thing about barrett jones, mid to late 1st rounder, but apparently hes more of a mid round pick. i remember him being an AP 1st team tackle as like a sophmore or junior and now hes polaying center. i know its still early but i was very surprised by that, warmack is more the bama linemen teams want.
1 Kansas City- Geno Smith, QB, WV: Purely a need pick here, I don't think it works out well. 2 Jacksonville-Jarvis Jones, DE/OLB, Georgia: Looks like they're gonna go with Henne, so they start improving the defensive side of the ball with this dynamic player. 3 Oakland- Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah, No QB's worth drafting here so they help plug up the hole from the departing Richard Seymoure. 4 Philadelphia - Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M, DUHhhhHHHHHHHHHHH 5 Detroit - Demarcus Milliner, CB , Alabama, Time to start to invest in that awful secondary of theirs. 6 Cleveland- Damontre Moore, DE, Texas A&M, An already good defense gets even better with this stud DE, him Taylor and Rubin will make a dirty trio. 7 Arizona - Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan, DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH 8 Buffalo - Manti Te'o, LB, Notre Dame, Will be the defensive captain on this team for years to come. Too bad this team will still suck dick. 9 NY Jets-Dion Jordan, DE, Oregon, They ain't finding a Sanchez replacement, so they try to get some type of a pass rush with Jordan instead. 10 Tennessee - Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio State, This defense is a mess, get this big boy to anchor the D line for years to come. 11 San Diego - Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan, A bit of a reach, but they NEED to keep Rivers on his feet, that O-Line was AWFUL last year. 12 Miami- Keenan Allen, WR, Cal, They need a true #1 receiver for Tannehill to grow with. 13 Tampa Bay - Johnathan Banks, CB, Mississippi State, DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH 14 Carolina- Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State, Dudes a monster will be a great bookend pass rusher for this team. 15 New Orleans - Sam Montgomery, DT, LSU, This team needs defensive help STAT, will replace the dissapointing Sedrick Ellis 16 St. Louis - Eric Reid, FS, LSU, Time to continue on and make this Secondary possibly one of the best in the league. 17 Pittsburgh - Barkevious Mingo, DE/OLB, LSU, Injection of some youth into this defense should do wonders. 18 Dallas- Chance Warmack, G, Alabama, This O-Line needs HELP why not inject the best interior Guard prospect? 19 NY Giants - Alec Ogletree, ILB, Georgia, They've needed a real LB for YEARS, they finally get one in this big boy. 20 Chicago - Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame, As of the moment Brandon Marshall is their only real receiving threat, he'll open up the passing game and not mention comes in as an established blocker.
ive heard the tackle mentioned for the eagles but with peters and herrimans coming back and both signed long term idk what they do with him. myabe take him and move herrimans back to RG where he played most of his career. after seeing how a few injuries to the oline destroyed our season, trust me, i will never complain about taking a linemen high in the draft haha.
with that said, so much of it is going to changed with all the coaching changes. just in the top 10 you might have 7 or 8 GM or coaching changes alone
very good. ill be honest, i probably could have named only like 5 players before yesterday as top draft prospects but now that the eagles are offically locked in at the 4 its time to step it up and dive into this.
i like the milliner kid from alabama, seemed like a big physical corner and someone we could definitly use after seeing soft as nnamdi and drc the past 2 years.
i know u dont have barkley on here, but im almost guraenteeing he becomes a top 10 pick. just the way it works with qb prospects
two seperate mocks, one from CBS sports one from USA Today...
"#17 Pittsburgh Steelers The Pick: ILB Manti Te'o, Notre Dame
The Manti Te'o wait is over.
Fans of the Notre Dame linebacker will surely be upset that he's still on the board here, but they should be glad to see him in a situation tailor-made for his talents. But why the fall down the board?
Te'o is a very good linebacker, no question, but his position isn't one of great need at the top of the draft this year. There are teams who could add a middle linebacker, but it's not the primary need for any team ahead of Pittsburgh.
Also (and this doesn't get mentioned enough), Te'o simply isn't a great athlete. He's not Patrick Willis. Instead, look for Te'o to run somewhere around a 4.7 in the 40-yard dash and perform about average in all agility tests at the combine."
The Pittsburgh Steelers have developed a reputation as one of the National Football League's better drafting teams in large part because they let the draft come to them rather than try to force a square peg into a round hole.
In this instance, the Steelers get the best of both worlds.
Not only would Notre Dame standout Manti T'eo provide an immediate upgrade over Larry Foote at SILB for the Steelers, but Pittsburgh's 3-4 scheme would allow T'eo to focus on doing what he does best without his lack of elite athleticism being exposed.
It's really the last two years where Megatron has become something of an all-world star. But he rises this high because after six years he appears to just be reaching his peak, and he was always a brilliant physical specimen. He could ostensibly reach 1,000 catches and 14,000 yards in his career if he stays healthy. Previous draft spot: No. 2 '07 pick:JaMarcus Russell, QB, LSU
He now has 8,849 yards, is coming off a brilliant 2,097-yard season, has a 5.0-yard per carry average for his career and doesn't seem bound by Earthly limitations of the human body. Peterson only drops based on positional value and future expectations of health compared to Megatron, but I never expect to be disappointed. Awesome player. Previous draft spot: No. 7 '07 pick: Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech
Mike Tannenbaum got fired, and Eric Mangini is no longer around, but the Jets made one of the great trade-up moves of all time in moving to No. 14 overall to draft Revis, who came out of Pitt after his junior year. When healthy, the best pure cover corner in football. Previous draft spot: No. 14 '07 pick:Joe Thomas, T, Wisconsin
He has over 150 more tackles than any other player in the draft class, has been to the Pro Bowl every year he's been in the league and is the heart and soul of arguably the best defense (and easily the best group of linebackers) in the NFL. Great pick by the Niners at No. 11. Previous draft spot: No. 11 '07 pick:Gaines Adams, DE, Clemson
Could be higher, really. The most consistent left tackle in the NFL since he's been drafted, only he and Willis have been to a Pro Bowl in every season among players in this draft class. In six years, Thomas has started 96 out of a possible 96 games. Previous draft spot: No. 3 '07 pick:Levi Brown, T, Penn State
He has totally reinvigorated his career in Seattle, and could easily crack 10,000 yards for his career if he can maintain some health. Lynch has run for 2,794 yards over the past two seasons, and has been voted to three Pro Bowl teams. A very good RB career, and a great awakening after it appeared to go sour in Buffalo. Previous draft spot: No. 12 '07 pick:LaRon Landry, S, LSU
I'm not sure many fans outside of San Francisco know much about Staley, but he's one of the best offensive linemen in the league, and he does it at a premium position. The Pro Bowl left tackle is a significant part of what the 49ers accomplish on offense. Previous draft spot: No. 28 '07 pick:Adrian Peterson, RB, Oklahoma
He would be higher based on his current level of play, but remember that Timmons didn't start until his third year in the league, as he worked his way up the Pittsburgh depth chart and earned the respect of Dick LeBeau. Maybe a little high based on accomplishments, but he's one of the NFL's best interior linebackers now. Previous draft spot: No. 15 '07 pick:Ted Ginn Jr., WR, Ohio State
He leads every defender from this draft class in sacks with 52.0, and he became an integral part of the Pittsburgh defense early in his career. Woodley came in with the reputation of a pass-rusher, but he also plays with leverage and succeeds against the run. Previous draft spot: No. 46 '07 pick:Amobi Okoye, DT, Louisville
Drafted as a tackle, it took some time, but when Yanda was moved inside to guard he found his role and has been voted to two straight Pro Bowls. Another player who rises here because he should have a lot of good football left, perhaps as one of the best players at his position. Previous draft spot: No. 86 '07 pick:Patrick Willis, LB, Ole Miss
He's no star, but since he was made a starter, Johnson has 33.0 sacks over the past three seasons, and seems to have really figured it out. He was seventh in the NFL in sacks in 2010, and sixth in 2012. Not bad considering where he was taken. Previous draft spot: No. 83 '07 pick: Marshawn Lynch, RB, Cal
Megatron has 488 catches, and Bowe isn't exactly light years behind in this class at 415. Not bad when you consider how up and down the QB situation has been in Kansas City. There's a pretty good chance Bowe will be choosing where he wants to play in 2013, and it's not hard to imagine his career actually spikes late. Previous draft spot: No. 23 '07 pick:Adam Carriker, DT, Nebraska
Well, he's not Revis, but Grubbs has been a starter since he arrived in the league, and has a Pro Bowl to show for his steady play over the years. He was actually drafted as a true guard, and has stuck there. Previous draft spot: No. 29 '07 pick:Darrelle Revis, CB, Pittsburgh
It's not Revis who leads this class in interceptions -- it's Hall. He has 22 since entering the league. He has started 81 of a possible 96 games since he arrived from Michigan, and is a leading player in maybe the deepest secondary in the league at the corner position. Previous draft spot: No. 18 '07 pick: Lawrence Timmons, LB, Florida State
Maybe he should be higher. Weddle isn't a headhunter, and doesn't appear in the highlights all that often, but I'm not sure there's a steadier safety in the NFL. He's easily one of the top few cover safeties in the league, but he also adds a ton in the run game. Complete player. Previous draft spot: No. 37 '07 pick:Justin Harrell, DT, Tennessee
He has started 89 of a possible 96 games, has been to a Pro Bowl and played well early in his career. He struggled in 2012, and could be challenged for his job, but he has ability and has carved out a decent career. Previous draft spot: No. 19 '07 pick:Jarvis Moss, DE, Florida
After six full seasons in the NFL, Rice is still only 26 years old and keeps a reasonably high spot on this list because, if healthy, he has a shot to put together a number of good seasons in the coming years. He had a big year in 2008, and finally healthy this season, he rebounded with 50 catches for 748 yards. It was the first time in six seasons he started all 16 games. Previous draft spot: No. 44 '07 pick: Leon Hall, CB, Michigan
His career sounds a lot better when you consider that within this draft class, he trails only Johnson and Bowe in receiving yards. Jones has never had an alpha role in the Green Bay offense, surrounded by so many other good pass-catchers, but has been remarkably efficient when he gets the chance. Could be Pro Bowl for years to come. Previous draft spot: No. 78 '07 pick: Michael Griffin, S, Texas
Nothing sexy about a center at No. 20 overall, but this is what a first-round center looks like. When healthy, you can pretty much pencil Kalil onto the Pro Bowl roster, which is where he landed from 2009 to 2011. Previous draft spot: No. 59 '07 pick:Aaron Ross, CB, Texas
He only falls because he has been lost to injury for the bulk of the past two seasons. It's a shame, because when Beason is healthy, he's a total stud, playing at the level of a guy like Willis and in the discussion as one of the best linebackers in the league, period. His first four years, he started all 64 possible games. Previous draft spot: No. 25 '07 pick:Reggie Nelson, S, Florida
He came into the league as a corner, but Goldson had the size and the hitter's mentality of a safety, and that's where he is today. He has made the Pro Bowl in each of the past two seasons, and the big question now is whether the Niners can keep him. Previous draft spot: No. 126 '07 pick:Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame
He has 78 starts in his six seasons, and has quietly become one of the top 10 safeties in the league. Nelson can make plays in the passing game, and does a decent job in run support. Not a star by any means, but a good player who can start for any team. Previous draft spot: No. 21 '07 pick:Brandon Meriweather, S, Miami
Among players from this class, only Johnson and Bowe have more total receptions. Olsen has averaged just over 50 through six seasons, not bad at all given the situations he has been in, a solution for new QBs in new systems in both Chicago and Carolina. Previous draft spot: No. 31 '07 pick: Jon Beason, LB, Miami
Really? Well, the case for Robison is it's possible he's in the midst of some of his best football, with more to come. He has 16.5 sacks over the past two seasons and has been a big part of a strong front on the Vikings' defense. It's only his second full season as a starter, so he may have some miles left on the odometer. Previous draft spot: No. 102 '07 pick: Anthony Spencer, DE, Purdue
From this draft, only Peterson and Lynch have more rushing yards than Bradshaw, who has 4,232 yards through his first six seasons. That's a major success story for a player that nearly fell out of the draft completely. Previous draft spot: No. 250 '07 pick:Robert Meachem, WR, Tennessee
With 280 catches for his career, he's second to Olsen in the class among tight ends, and could end up on top, because he has proved himself to be a reliable pass-catcher and a guy who knows how to find and create space as a route runner. The Eagles got a steal down the board. Previous draft spot: No. 162 '07 pick: Joe Staley, T, Central Michigan
He's actually second in the draft class in total tackles, with 469 in his career. He falls down the board only because of positional value, and because he has merely been solid, never rising to the level of impact player. He had a good 2012, with 139 total tackles. Previous draft spot: No. 34 '07 pick: Ben Grubbs, G, Auburn
Particularly in terms of his coverage ability, Landry just isn't where he was as a player when he came into the league, but at that time he had a stretch as one of the top safeties in football, and earned a Pro Bowl appearance for those efforts. Injuries have slowed him since he started 47 of his first 48 possible games. Previous draft spot: No. 6 '07 pick:Buster Davis, WR, LSU
Not a star, but he played a key role for Seattle this season as a defensive tackle, and is a good one on a rotation basis. Mebane has started 85 games over six seasons. Previous draft spot: No. 85 '07 pick: Greg Olsen, TE, Miami
Not an explosive tight end in the mold of some of the younger stars who have defined the position, but Miller has been reliable and carved out a solid career. He has averaged just under 50 catches per season since he was drafted, and avoids injuries. Previous draft spot: No. 38 '07 pick:Anthony Gonzalez, WR, Ohio State
stacked top 10 but no qb hurts this draft class. but wow the leagues best wr, rb, corner, mlb and maybe even LT all came from this draft class, good thing raiders came out with one of the worst busts of all time haha. RIP Al Davis.
i'm pretty sure he does that intentionally. he lives in hunt valley and went to high school at calvert hall (same HS as our boys Tony torain, ryan dougherty and celebs like juan dixon and the ledgen gary neal) which is less than 10 minutes away from campus. he must not like that they changed the name to TU.
Milliner would be huge, but I expect him to go no later than 10. Also Mingo, while sounding diesel, fits more as the prototypical 3-4 OLB/DE, which the Giants have never really been able to successfully train to be that 4-3 backer/de.
my top 4 depends on what kind of Dcoach we get because it will really depend on if they run the 3-4 or 4-3. i kinda want to run a 3-4 and get someone like jarvis jones. but here are the players i like:
1. jarvis jones (been saying for weeks, need a von miller type impact player)
2. luke joecel (move herrmans back to LG, watkins to the bench and demtress bell out of the league)
3. Milliner (too high for #4 but i like him and corner is a huge need)
fish theres no one worthy of the #4 overall pick and if they take someone later on that totally goes against your QB draft philosophy! What are they gonna do?!
ive seen a few early mockdrafts and they all had geno smith top 5, so it might be too early to say nobody is worthy of a top 4 pick there which is why i say its too early in the gmae to determine that. but you are correct, if nobody is deemed worthy of the 4th pick i do not want to see them take another project 2nd or 3rd pick and roll the dice that way. might have to ride out with nick foles or see if the new coach has a new qb in mind during the offseaon (alex smith, flynn, tebo ok never mind).
i posted a twitter question last week to this nfl dude i follow asking about johnny football. i asked if he was a future 1st round pick. homeboy put me on blast and said "in the XLF? sure!"
the reaction i got from other commentors was 50/50. some thought it was hilarious and some thought he was crazy. i was actually really impressed with manziel after watch him crush OK, i thought he had a quick release and with another 1-2 years in college combined with the spread increasing in the nfl and russell wilsons success, i could def see manizel being a 1st rounder in a year or 2. am i crazy?
the issue was his height. russell wilson is only like 5'10 and rarley qbs that small ever make it. manziel is listed at 6'1 so i think that is why i compared them. wilson might have a better arm so im not sure if its a good comparison but manziel still has another year or 2 to develop. he also might need to grow up a bit, i know he got arrested a year or 2 ago for underage drinking and he seems like a party animal/bad ass where russell wilson was one of the most mature draft prospects last year. this is not what nfl teams want from their future franchise qb:
i like it i wanna see what teo does at the combine before i make him my pick for the steelers. hes one of those guys whos stock will depend a lot on how he looks there. i might take ogletree before teo.
my early steeler 4 round mock
1. Ogletree/Jarvis Jones/Dion Jordan (all are around the steelers pick in your mock) 2. Robert Woods WR USC 3. Bicarri Rambo S UGA 4. Kenjon Barner RB ORE/ Montae Ball RB WISC
honestly i think the steelers trade back in the first round if they can get one of those 3 or elam/vaccaro or reid at safety.
im sure none of this is even close but those are the 4 guys im hot on right now in rounds 1-4
1) Kansas City Chiefs - Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M
I don't forsee Branden Albert staying with the Chiefs at the money he's going to want. So the Chiefs resupply their line with this stud and grab a QB later.
2)Jacksonville Jaguars - Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah
The Jags need help all over, so they go BPA here. If it weren't for Jarvis Jones' Spinal Stenosis he'd be penciled in here. Wanting to avoid risk they get this beast instead.
3)Oakland Raiders - Geno Smith, QB, West Virgina
Oakland needs to excite this fanbase somehow. Drafting Geno will be a good start. Carson Palmer sure as hell aint the future.
With Joeckel off the board the Eagles focus on the defensive side of the ball. The DRC Nnamdi show has been a unresounding failure. They get this stud to wipe that nasty taste out of their mouths.
5)Detroit Lions - Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
A slight reach, but a necessary one. Backus is gone, Godser Cherilus sucks. The name of this team is Matthew Stafford, keep him healthy and you can win. So they draft this stud to keep him upright for the next decade. A bookend tandem of Reiff and Fisher should be the thing every team hopes for.
6)Cleveland Browns- Damontre Moore, DE, Texas A&M
Don't look now but this defense is getting very good very fast. Adding a elite pass rusher like this may just put them over the top. Add in Ray Horton as the new DC, I've got this D penciled in as one of my top 10 next year (if not possibly top 5)
7)Arizona Cardinals - Tyler Wilson, QB, Arkansas
Bruce Arians is going to want his guy, and Tyler Wilson isn't a terrible guy to mold. He has all the things you want from a pro caliber NFL QB, he just needs a lot of refinement. Arians has somewhat made a name for himself as a QB guru (Peyton, Roethlisberger, Luck) So he doesn't think twice about taking this guy who can actually get the ball to Larry Fitzgerald.
8)Buffalo Bills - Ezekial Ansah, DE, BYU
Can you say bookend DE's? Him and Mario Williams will wreak HAVOC on QBs for years to come. Being called the next JPP, how can you pass up an opportunity like that?
9)New York Jets - Bjoern Werner, DE/OLB, Florida State
The Jets don't have a pass rush, period. They have this beast fall into their lap and they thank their maker they do. This guy is going to be a STUD.
10)Tennessee Titans - Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas
This team needs playmakers on both sides of the ball. They grab this ballhawking turnover machine and start trying to get back to that dominant Titans D of yesteryear.
11)San Diego Chargers - Chance Warmack,G,Alabama
They need to keep Rivers on his feet, sadly no Tackle is worth picking at this point. So instead they grab this mauling run blocker, whos not terrible in pass blocking either.
12)Miami Dolphins - Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State
This dude is incredible, the Dolphins need someone playing across from Sean Smith, they get a lockdown corner in this guy nice and early. They'll either grab Greg Jennings in FA or grab a WR in round 2.
13)Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Jonathan Banks, CB, Mississippi St.
Obvi, they might have had the worst secondary in the league last year. This is a need pick that also happens to be BPA, they luck out nicely here.
They're moving to a 4-3 and need a DT, cause well, all they have is Ratliff who has fallen off the cliff big time. They'll take this monster and never look back.
19) New York Giants - Alec Ogeltree,LB, Georgia
The Giants haven't had a good linebacker since Jessie Armstead. So they finally get one in this specimen. This guy could turn out to be one of the best players in the draft 3 years down the line. We need someone to shore up that middle and help to stop the run. This guy will do it.
20)Chicago Bears - Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma
Year in and year out I continue to say that the Bears need O-Line help or Cutlers gonna get killed. Maybe a new HC will finally get it done.
21)Cincinatti Bengals - Kevin Minter, LB, LSU
A pure need pick here. Rey Maulaga is possibly the WORST linebacker in the NFL. They quietly say goodbye to him and usher in the new era.
They need better WR's, yeah they grabbed Titus Young, but god knows how that will work out. This guy has the ability to be a great WR, I fully expect them to help out Sam Bradford.
23)Minnesota Vikings - Jonathan Hankins, DT, Ohio State
The Williams wall is a distant memory, they need to get younger on that D-Line, Hankins steps in and makes a big difference right away.
24)Indianapolis Colts - John Jenkins, DT, Georgia
The offense is set, now they need to get that defense in order. It's been far too many years where teams have been able to run the ball at will on the Colts. With Chuckstrong back, they look to put a stop to that with this behemouth.
25)Seattle Seahawks - Dion Jordan, DE, Oregon
The slide ends and the golden boy stays home. Bruce Irvin is RAW and at best a nickle blitzer at the moment. This guy will be a fixture on the line for years, and not to mention, will help with the loss of Chris Clemons.
26)Green Bay Packers - Eddie Lacy, RB, Alabama
The Pack need to run the ball. They get this workhorse back to start doing that. Ced Benson aint gonna cut it.
27)Houston Texans - Keenan Allen, WR, Cal
They've been looking for a WR opposite Andre forever, they finally get one in this monster. Easy pick.
28)Denver Broncos - Desmond Trufant,CB, Washington
Champ aint getting any younger. They pick up this physical monster and keep the good times rolling (as long as Peytons neck holds up that is)
29)New England Patriots - Matt Elam, S, Florida
Their secondary is a mess, Aqib helped, but he can't do it himself. Patrick Chung is probably on his way out too. So they pick up this guy and make themselves even better.
30)Atlanta Falcons - Alex Okafor, DE, Texas
They cut Ray Edwards midway through the year and didn't really have a replacement. John Abraham is a dinosaur as well. They pick up this studly DE and are happy he fell this far.
31)San Francisco 49ers - Eric Reid, S, LSU
Good chance that Dashon Goldson walks this offseason, so they replace him and it's like no one even left.
