Dan's Weekly Power Rankings
Permalink

I plan on introducing a new weekly series of posts where I will rank the 32 NFL teams based on each weeks performance. Believe it or not, Mike Florio actually stole this idea from me.

1. New York Giants
It's no secret that I have been hyping the NY Football Giants all year, it is evident of my fantasy squad. The receiving corp may be the best in football, and with Brandon Jacobs starting to play well, the offense looks un-stoppable. The defensive line is by far the best in football, and with Antrel Rolle trolling the secondary, watch out. This Giant team looks twice as good as the Super Bowl team a couple years ago.
2. Pittsburgh Steelers
I can't beleive I have them here, even with the robbery that occured in South Beach! It will take a long time for me to get over that one, but I can't deny they are still one of the toughest teams to compete against, and Big Ben will only get better with his decision making from here on out.
3. Tennessee Titans
Even with an injured Vince Young, the Titans beat a good Eagles team. The secondary play of the Titans is key, and the explosion of Kenny Britt only makes the team stronger.
4. New York Jets
The 5-1 record should make them the 1st or 2nd best team in the NFL, but this is my power rankings, and they can lick my hairless balls. Expect Mark Sanchez to show some signs of youth in the next couple games.
5. New England Patriots
Tom Brady is one of the best in the business, and no-name players are showing up on defense for this team. However, expect this team to lose games solely because of the play of their defense.
6. Baltimore Ravens
The return of Ed Reed is going to spark this defense into a dominate force again.
7. Indianapolis Colts
Peyton Manning has to deal with a slew of key injuries, including Auston Collie and Joseph Addai, but come on, its Peyton.
8. Green Bay Packers
The Packers got a huge win over the Vikings this week, and seem to have found a way to win without key contributors on offense and defense.
9. Philadelphia Eagles
The biggest problem this team has is at quarterback, but not because of a lack of talent. Once Mike Vick returns and becomes the every week full-time quarterback, I expect them to become a tough team to face.
10. Houston Texans
With some big wins, and some poor losses its tough to judge this team, but I still regard them as one of the best in the league, because of Matt Schaub and their offense.
11. Atlanta Falcons
Matty Ice uses Gillette products and so do I.
12. Kansas City Chiefs
Matt Cassell is showing flashes of why the Cheifs traded for him, and Dwayne Bowe is playing like a beast. Brandon Flowers is proving to be one of the best corners in the league.
13. Miami Dolphins
The "win" in Pittsburgh proved that the defense can help back up a flighty Chad Henne. Unfortunate circumstances and poor play calling have marred this team so far.
14. Minnesota Vikings
By far the best team with one of the worst records. Brad Childress is a horrible coach, and needs to decide if he is going to let Brett control the team. Travaris Jackson is the obvious choice at QB, not only because Brett is hurt, but because he gives the team the best chance to win right now.
15. New Orlean Saints
I predicted in this forum that the Saints would not make the playoffs. Let that be known.
16. Seattle Seahawks
Pete Carroll has completely revamped the team, and has found a true playmaker in Earl Thomas.
17. Washington Redskins
When a single player gets 4 interceptions to himself, and you barely win, thats a problem.
18. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Josh Freeman once looked like a bust, he now looks like the guy you want the ball in his hands at the end of the game.
19. Chicago Bears
Jay Cutler is so bad, I'm tired of hearing any argument that he is even remotely good. This just shows how little free agency means in the NFL and how important the NFL Draft is.
20. Cleveland Browns
Peyton Hillis is by far the best white RB in the league.
21. Arizona Cardinals
Kurt Warner could easily become the highest paid QB ever if he decides to come out of retirement.
22. St. Louis Rams
Much improved thanks to Sam Bradford. Let's just hope this draft pick of theirs doesn't try to run over a group of kids.
23. Jacksonville Jaguars
Los Angeles, here we come!
24. Oakland Raiders
A huge win this past Sunday, but let's not go chanting Super Bowl just yet. Al Davis just gained a year of life on Sunday.
25. San Diego Chargers
Phillip Rivers can't play on defense, or else they might be better.
26. Cinncinati Bengals
Let's all face it, Carson Palmer is not the Carson Palmer from 2004.
27. Detriot Lions
Great offense, but couldn't stop Boise State's offense right now.
28. Dallas Cowboys
This team could easily be lower if it wasnt for one player, Demarcus Ware.
29. San Francisco 49ers
I truely beleive the biggest problem with this team is coaching. Alex Smith is no Joe Montana, but you have Frank Gore and one of the best rising receivers in Crabtree. The defense is led by the best middle linebacker in the league, yet you still lose.
30. Denver Broncos
Getting beat that bad by the Oakland Raiders should have made them the automatic 32nd ranked team for at least a month, but you can't deny the talent on the team is better than most of these lowly teams.
31. Carolina Panthers
Getting rid of Jake Delhomme actually looks silly now. Having very little draft picks in the past several years is killing this team.
32. Buffalo Bills
0-6. Enough said.

The skins beat #8, #9 outright, were within a field goal of #7 and should have beaten #10 if not for a miracle johnson TD and kubiak shanahaning shanahan.

Still no respect for the skins on this board, and I'm not even saying we'll be in the playoffs at the end of the year, but right now you have to give them their props. They are winning ugly, but who isnt?

Oh yeah, lets not forget that John Kitna and the Cowboys made it a game against the Giants last night.

I guess we'll have our chance to get some respect when we play the giants later in the season.

lets not get too ****y josh, I know you guys are putting a hurting on people (literally), but so are the skins.

Dallas Clark is on IR after the skins game, Clay Mathews pulled a hammy, Aaron Rodgers had a concussion, Michael Vick broke some ribs, LeSean McCoy had a rib injury, Jermichael Finley is on IR, etc.

It will prolly look like a preseason game by the end of the first giants/redskins game with so many backups/3rd stringers in haha.

*teams not tops

-also i think the redskins r a little low, they have beaten some pretty good teams, n i have to disagree with the giants, they look good cuz they beat up on some bad teams but lets remember they got smoked by the colts n the texans not too long ago. i dont think there in the top 5

And you know whats funny, the Broncos got Peyton Hillis AND some draft picks for Brady Quinn. No wonder the Broncos are so bad.

haha how about a cut em keep em...

Keep em - Kenny Britt, Mike Wallace, Thomas Jones, Zack Miller, Steve Smith, Matt Ryan, Vincent Jackson, Dwayne Bowe, Hines Ward

Cut em - Jason Snelling, Cadillac Williams, Patrick Crayton, CJ Spiller, Ricky Williams, Jerrico Cotchery, Kevin Walter, Carson Palmer

Oh wait, the keep ems have all been cut at some point this year and the cut ems are all on active rosters.

not sure about vjax just yet. he wont play til week 12 n who knows how much.  hes either gonna b a monster for some1 in the playoffs or making tht playoff run, or a wasted roster spot. i would have traded him, instead of dropping him after holding on to him so long.

and broncos sure no how to trade good players and get nothing in return, since mcdaniels took over the traded away hills marshall and cutler, imagine if they had tht 3 headed monster still.

another interesting fact about hills, he was on arkansas back when they had dmc and felix jones.  he was a beast then too, i always thought it was cuz other teams had to worry about mcfadden too much, but who woulda thought hills would be a much better pro than jones so far...
