Will be done by tonight. I'm sitting on the beach right now staring at boobs and butts.

Well ladies, this week of football was filled with drama and suspense, and will only get juicier leading up to Week 9.
Randy Moss was waived after only four weeks with the Vikings, and Brad Childress is seating on a seat as hot as Val on Halloween night.
The Washington Redskins made one of the most head scratching moves this season, benching Donavan McNabb for Rex Grossman in the final minutes of a competitive game. Mike Shanahan now joins the ranks of Marty Mornhinweg, who infamously decided to kick off after winning the coin toss in overtime.
Ok, now for what you've all been waiting for, my weekly Power Rankings.
1. NY Giants It's a toss up between the Giants and Patriots as the best team in the NFL, but I still think that the Giants are playing with the most talent in the NFL on both offense and defense. I expect a big week for them, and getting an extra week to practice and relax only helps. 2. New England Patriots Man, this is going to be painful, but here it goes. The New England Patriots are one of the best run organizations in all of sports. Bill Bellicheck, although a huge douche, is like a mad scientist. The team seems to handle player personnel like a never ending chess game, and they always win. Like Tiger in golf, they rarely lose control of their spot once ahead. Expect this team to possibly take over the #1 spot in the near future. 3. Indianapolis Colts Their win over Houston this past week only proves to me that we could possibly be watching the best player in NFL history in Peyton Manning. They are the last team I would want to face at Lucas Oil Stadium. 4. Pittsburgh Steelers Mike Tomlin blew a challenge opportunity that could of changed the nature of the game, but regardless of the loss, the Steelers still have a great defense that can win games by itself. I didn't believe James Harrison when he said he doesn't know how to play under the leagues new rules, but since, he no longer seems like that dominant, frightening force in the middle. The Steelers need that old Harrison back, however way he decides. 5. Baltimore Ravens Donte Stallworth returning should help open up the passing game for Joe "The Situation" Flacco. 6. NY Jets You get shutout at The Meadowlands, and Aaron Rodgers says it wasn't even that loud. Ouch, thats a slap in the face. Please check my last power rankings post for my accurate prediction on Mark Sanchez. 7. Green Bay Packers They get Dallas this week, a bye, and then the Vikings. Clay Matthew is back. It could be a good month for the Packers. 8. Tennessee Titans A poor loss to the Chargers has caused a big drop for this team. I think that the loss of Kenny Britt will hurt this team, as Chris Johnson cannot do it all. Vince Young needs some solid play in the next several weeks. 9. New Orleans Saints Drew Brees had a great performance against a very strong Pittsburgh defense, and Reggie Bush is expected to return soon. I'm starting to think my prediction of them missing the playoffs might be silly. Stay tuned. 10. Philadelphia Eagles Mike Vick's return is going to provide headaches for opposing teams. The get a hot team in the Colts this week, but luckily they get to play in the comfort of Lincoln Financial field. I expect a barn burner. 11. Miami Dolphins Their only losses come against the Patriots, Jets, and Gene Steratore. The secondary is starting to click, and Chad Henne is eliminating some mistakes. 12. Kansas City Chiefs Matt Cassell is like Trent Dilfer, dont throw picks, hand it off to Jammal Charles/Thomas Jones, cheer for your defense, and you got yourself one heck of a team. Yes, the barely beat a terrible Bills team, but they won, and historically they lose those close fought games. They are learning how to win. 13. Atlanta Falcons Matt Ryan plays like a 10 year veteran, next weeks game against the Buccaneers is one of the biggest so far for them. 14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers As long as LaGarrette Blount does not punch anyone, he will take over primary duties for a young team playing better then I think even they know. A great draft this past April has made this team a suprising NFC South contender. 15. Houston Texans There losses came against strong opponents, and I expect them to rebound from their last defeat. Brian Cushing is rusty, once he gets back to form they will only get better. 16. Oakland Raiders I am not yet on the bandwaggon, it's still the Oakland Raiders, but their offensive players once deemed busts, are now playing with confidence, and the defense is backing it up. Move of the year: drafting Rolando McClain. For a second I thought they were going to jump on Jacoby Ford in the first. 17. San Diego Chargers We have seen the Chargers come back before to make the playoffs. The return of Vincent Jackson will deffinetly help, but injuries and poor play by the defense is hurting this team. 18. Jacksonville Jaguars I'm glad I don't have David Garrard in fantasy, because he would really piss me off. 19. Washington Redskins Seeking a QB with "cardio-vascular endurance" the Skins brought in a 286 pound JaMarcus Russell to take a look. I think Brad Childress and Mike Shanahan have the same cocaine dealer. 20. Seattle Seahawks They lost to a talent filled Chargers team, and are still one of the better teams in the NFC. 21. St. Louis Rams Sam Bradford is VERY accurate, and hardly ever makes mistakes. This is will keep them competitive in most games this year. Steve Spagnuolo can thank Sam for another year of employment. 22. Detroit Lions The Lions have finally found their franchise quarterback, and Calvin Johnson makes a strong case for being the best receiver in the league. This team most likely will not advance much higher on my list this year, but they could be very high at some point next year. 23. Chicago Bears Maybe the Redskins will trade a 2nd round draft pick for Jay Cutler next year. 24. Minnesota Vikings Only Denzel Washington can save this train wreck of a team. 25. Cleveland Browns They received Peyton Hillis and a draft pick from the Denver Broncos in a trade for Brady Quinn. That is why the Broncos are where they are at on this list, and why you are here. 26. Cinncinati Bengals It was an early Christmas for the Bengals last Sunday, with the Dolphins giving them many gifts, yet they still lose. 27. Arizona Cardinals Despite a 3-4 record, they don't deserve to be any higher when they lose in the fashion they did to Tampa this past week. 28. Dallas Cowboys Hey, at least Dez Bryant looks like the real deal. Look for Wade Phillips to be fired before the season ends. 29. San Francisco 49ers They beat a lowly Denver squad. Maybe Troy Smith can make a magical run to the playoffs? I think not. 30. Denver Broncos It's a huge shame that the team is getting a Pro Bowl performance out of Brandon Lloyd, but are getting demolished by Oakland and San Francisco is consecutive weeks. 31. Carolina Panthers No quarterback, and their star players are hardly playing at a star level. 32. Buffalo Bills They fought hard against a strong Chiefs team, but are still winless, and are still the worst team in the league.

very funny, really liked the jay culter for skins 2nd idea, dont tell snyder or he might actually do it... wait a second, what am i thinknig? some1 GIVE ME HIS EMAIL ADDRESS!!
the minny needed denzel to save them was great use of symbolism combined with a current movie being played. well done
obviously i agree with the eagles being in the top 10, ur one of the few who have them there, peter king doesnt even have them in his top 15, i think ppl r forgetting how they had mike vick as the mvp of the league 3 weeks ago, but thts the nfl for u, things that happen 2-3 weeks ago mean next to nothing sometimes. when hes back this is a much different team and after they beat the colts i bet some ppl will say this is the team to beat in the nfc
i dont think cushing is rusty, i think he needs to get back on the roids
excellent point on garrad, i dont no what u do with a qb who either gets -5 points or 30, but he would piss me off too.
-great article, ur wendsday power rankings are becoming must reads ala peter kings MMQB or bill simmons friday espn column and its time for me to step my game up, the bar has been raised...

Come on what about my Miami rankings comment? I was particularly excited with that one, especially for Nick!

I think that's why Forster didn't comment, he usually provides some great rebuttals, but the Skins are pretty low on the list.

i didn't comment because there is nothing positive going on with the skins right now. i really wish i was a ravens fan and have for the last few years. i just can't get excited about them.
Yeah skins prob shoulda hung onto that 2nd rounder and just let campbell finish out his contract. Then theyd have an absurd safety tandem in Landry and Nate Allen. Oh well...

not to sound like a hater, but y does every1 think the giants r so good? now obviously im a little biased, but i think the eagles (with vick) r just as good if not better. look who the giants have beaten:
-panthers (worst team in nfl) -bears (average at best) -texans (average) -lions -dallas (bottom 3) -seattle (nothing special)
giants also started 6-0 last year before getting to there tough part of the scheudle and missing the playoffs, i mean what am i missing here about them being a top 5 team?
philly has beaten ATL and INDY, 2 top 10 teams, and the only games they lost vick wasnt in. guess we will see in a few weeks wont we, im pumped
the giants lost to the colts by 50 who the eagles beat which says a lot more than the eagles losing to the skins with there backup qb.
its just a prediction, lets remember after week 3 every1 thought the giants were done and coughlin was getting fired, now there the nfc's best team? please
and i agree the giants have been dominant, but there doing it vs bad teams which shows tht yes i think the giants r good, but until they beat a good team i dont see y all these experts think there so great. ppl just see what teams do the last 2-3 weeks and base everything off that.
Sorry for the delay brothers, but here you go. Fish, you will both like my post, but most likely also dislike where I have your beloved Eagles.

Ok gentleman. Another great week is done and done in the NFL and a new set of Power Rankings is ready to be unveiled.
First, there are a few shout outs I'd like to give.
Mike Vick
Mr. Vick, when you were indicted and sentenced with criminal dog fighting charges a few years ago, most were ready to lock you up and throw away the key, but your comeback is an inspiration to me and all that have struggled in life. You are my dark horse for the league MVP, and your team should be feared by all as a serious championship contender. Donovan who?
Josh McDaniels
Mr. McDaniels, I'd like to thank you for giving up on a great young talent in Peyton Hillis to acquire the **** touching Brady Quinn. Without this move, you would not have allowed for such a beating on the New England Patriots. Peyton, when I first saw you show up for post-game interviews in camoflauge Under Armor, I knew I was an instant fan. Heres to you Peyton, and to the Browns for two great wins in a row.
The Oakland Raiders
In your biggest win since the Rich Gannon era, you found a way to beat the Chiefs and make a serious push for the AFC West title. Al Davis can finally watch the games without a diaper.
Ok, so here you go.
1. New York Giants
For the 3rd straight week the New York Giants are atop my Power Rankings. After last week’s dismantling of the Seattle Seahawks there is no doubt this team is the strongest all around team in football. On my flight to San Diego, I watched the entire Super Bowl XLII, and the play of the defensive line was without question, the biggest reason for the upset. The defensive line of this year’s team is twice as good…
2. Green Bay Packers
Young draft picks are filling in nicely for the injured veterans, and Clay Matthews has a shot at being the first defensive MVP since Lawrence Taylor.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers
Mike Tomlin commands the stingiest defense in football, and for this they deserve my respect at the top of this list. Plus, Troy Polamalu’s Head & Shoulders commercials make me laugh.
4. Philadelphia Eagles
Mike Vick is playing the best football he has ever played. Maybe the Eagles can ship Kevin Kolb to the Redskins for a 2nd? Sorry Forster, just too damn tempting.
5. Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens beat my beloved Miami Dolphins on Sunday in one of the sloppiest games in NFL history. Despite the win, they showed some weaknesses in the run defense.
6. Indianapolis Colts
In what I predicted to be a barn-burner against the Eagles, it was nothing short of that. The best team won that game, but a great team still lost. Peyton and the Colts still demand respect.
7. New England Patriots
My attempt to jinx the Patriots obviously worked last week. The remaining schedule for the Patriots is not pleasant, and this is the main reason they are here at #7.
8. Tennessee Titans
The addition of Randy Moss only makes this team even deadlier. Opposing defenses can no longer stuff the box, leaving hopeless cornerbacks to cover Randy by themselves. I am seriously jealous of whoever has Chris Johnson in fantasy. Expect this team to jump quickly up my rankings in the next several weeks.
9. New York Jets
The Jets received a gold plated gift last week against the Lions. Mark Sanchez played like Joe Namath throwing for over 300 yards in the win. However, fans should not expect this from him every week.
10. Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons held off a very strong Tampa Bay team this past Sunday to take the lead in the ever changing NFC South. Michael Turner is playing his best [fantasy] football of the year. **** you Nick.
11. New Orleans Saints
The Saints have won against some really good teams, but have lost to some questionable opponents, which make it very hard to judge how good this team really is. However, since losing to Cleveland in week 7, they have played like the Super Bowl champs of last year. Pierre Thomas's absence is very obvious for this team.
12. Oakland Raiders
I was a little skeptic about the Raiders win streak, but after winning a close game against the rival Chiefs, it is apparent that the culture of this team has changed.
13. San Diego Chargers
Phillip Rivers is a possible MVP, and has his team playing great football. Their record does not represent how good a team they are.
14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
There loss to the Falcons only proved that they can compete against the elite teams in the NFL. They won't win the division, but 10-6 will get them into the playoffs as a wild card.
15. Kansas City Chiefs
If the Chiefs don't get back to dominating the run game expect them to continue to lose.
16. Miami Dolphins
If you watch the Dolphins like I do, it has become apparent that the play calling on both offense and defense for this team is downright laughable. How does Ronnie Brown rush for 40 yards and a touchdown on the opening drive, and only get handed the ball three more times after that. Yes, that is correct, three times!
17. Houston Texans
Matt Cassell needs to play much better. Not only to win, but because I drafted this **** with the 13th overall pick in fantasy.
18. Jacksonville Jaguars
A bye week should help this team who are coming off a win against the confidence boosting Dallas Cowboys. I wonder which David Garrard we will get this week.
19. Cleveland Browns
Peyton Hillis is playing so good, that Josh pulled his trade with me for Hakeem Nicks. Now that is saying something.
20. Chicago Bears
Don’t let their 5-3 record fool you. They are not that good, and could easily be 2-6.
21. Washington Redskins
The bashing of Donovan McNabb continued all bye week for the Washington Redskins. But McNabb’s skin has proven to be made of steel, and he gets a shot at his former team Monday Night. Expect a great game from McNabb, and one of the best games of Week 10.
22. Minnesota Vikings
This past “win” against the Cardinals saved Brad Childress from being the first coach fired this year mid-season. The team can continue to win if Brett Favre can hold up.
23. Seattle Seahawks
I can’t believe at some point this year, Tony Dungy suggested this might be the best team in the NFC. So when does Matt Hasselbeck return from injury?
24. St. Louis Rams
Sam Bradford has a slight lead in my books for Offensive Rookie of the Year over Tampa Bay’s Mike Williams.
25. Detroit Lions
This is most likely the highest they will get on this list now that Stafford appears to be out for the year.
26. Arizona Cardinals
This team must be the most frustrating team to be a fan of. They are on the losing side of close games every week. They should consider paying Cam Newton to come play for them.
27. Cincinnati Bengals
The good news? Terrell Owens is picking up Chad Johnson’s slack. The bad news? Chad Johnson is the slack. The worst news? Carson Palmer sucks.
28. San Francisco 49ers
“The finest hour” for the 49ers is also taking place during one of their worst seasons.
29. Denver Broncos
If you read my shout-outs, then this rank seems appropriate.
30. Dallas Cowboys
Jason Garrett takes the reigns in Dallas. Godspeed to you Jason.
31. Carolina Panthers
In their 34-3 shellacking by the Saints, Jimmy Clausen went 8 of 18 for 48 yards. When Tyrell Sutton is the leading rusher, and David Gettis is your best receiver, you have serious personnel issues.
32. Buffalo Bills
0-8. Enough said.

great post, as always, couple of small errors: - u think the bucs will be 10-6 and make the playoffs? yet have philly, ny, falcons, and the saints all ahead of them? one of them cant make it
- for the texans u put matt cassel, u meant matt schuab
everything else looked good, a few notes from ur boy:
- as i said before i dont think giants should be 1, but coming from some1 who has 5 giants on his fantasy roster and has been high on them before any1 else, i respect tht u put them there. ur just going to regret it after philly smokes them. -3 of ur top 4 teams in the nfc, so much for afc dominance huh? - i agree, philly should try to trade kolb for a 2nd to the redskins, they like getting ripped off in trades with us
-motz has chris johnson so dont be jealous. unless u want to be in last place. only motz can have a guy who puts up 20-30 every game and have 2 wins.
-i think the panthers r by far the worst team in the nfl. the bills r 0-8 but theyve been close in a few games vs good teams while like u said about the panthers, look who there leading stat guys are. plus they have a coach who every1 knows wont b back next year. Good thing i got steve smith early! -also how big a bust does jimmy clasuen look like? when u see rookie qbs like bradford and now colt mccoy come in right away n do well, then u see clausen go 8-18 for 65 yards and 2 ints it really makes me wonder if he needs more time or he just plain sucks and will never be good. -on that same topic: why is todd mcshay not posting on his website clips of mel kiper saying he was the #1 qb in the draft and opening mocking his nfl draft knowledge? thank god todd has higher standards than i do. i bragged for weeks after javid best was a better fantasy player than spiller and tht was nothing compared to the stakes mcshay had vs kiper on this topic. this is getting ugly
1 question:
-care to comment on the mcclain spitting incident? although the video didnt show any spit coming out, it sure had the motion of some1 spitting, and crowder sure as hell acted like he was spit on and as u can tell by the "who the **** is anne keller" quote, crowder isnt the smartest guy in the world. as TO would say, if it looks like a rat and it smells like a rat, by golly it is a rat! but yet no fine/penalty? danny, ur thoughts?
-- Edited by MFisH on Thursday 11th of November 2010 12:53:44 PM
First, I have never been a preacher for AFC domination, times have changed. Players go wherever the money is.
Second, I am glad to here that Motz has Chris Johnson. Thats like taking the orange plastic stud off the cap gun when you were a kid. Sure, it looks dangerous, but it won't harm a soul.
Third, does Mel Kiper look silly RIGHT NOW for saying Clausen was the number #1 QB? Yes, but everyone knows you have to give a guy more than 9 weeks to judge a rookie. Come on Fish, step your game up.
Fourth, why is Todd McShay not posting that on his website? Probably because he knows he will get bashed by all his retarded predictions himself. The guy is a douche and is frequently wrong with his analysis. I believe he still had Clausen ranked higher than Colt McCoy. Also, remember when he infamously argued with Mel Kiper that Aaron Curry was worthy of the 1st overall pick by the Lions because he was a "safer" pick over Matt Stafford. Man, good call.
And FINALLY, the spitting incident. Like an enforcer in hockey, McClain must of been sent in to get revenge for calling Derrick Mason old. He obviously spit, nobody ****s their head back if they accidently spit, it just comes out if that happens. The NFL is getting ridiculous with this "by the book" crap. Of course your not going to see the spit projectile at that angle. Should of been fine.
If you do not see the spit, then you must acquit!

danny, i no u have to give a rookie qb more than 9 weeks, it was more of a joke. with that said, it doesnt look good. a lot of rookie qbs have played, matt ryan, joe flacco, freeman, stafford, sanchez, bradford, mccoy, and while they all will have there growing pains, all have looked good or at least have shown glipses early on. clausen hasnt, and he looks pathetic, fox is even thinking about benching him for 6th rounder tony pike. now im not saying hes a bust and its over, but lets be serious, theres a much better chance hes a bust than a future pro bowler. look at brady quinn a few years ago, sometimes when a qb doesnt look good from the start, chances r he never will...
Ravens @ Falcons Matt Ryan is 17-1 at home in his career. Roddy White is injured but the Phins RBs exposed the Ravens defense so I expect to see a heavy dose of Michael Turner (hopefully). Funny story about the Matt Ryan/Joe Flacco draft - Ozzie Newsome offered St. Louis, picking above Atlanta, picks in the first, second and fourth rounds in 2008 and third round in 2009 for the Rams' top choice. Baltimore would have taken Ryan. Atlanta would have taken defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey. Baltimore would have gotten Ryan, but would then have missed getting Ray Rice in the second round.
Ill take Matty Ice over the personality-less "Situation" 10 times out of 10.
Falcons 21-17
Vikings @ Bears Brett Favre proved last week he doesn't need Randy Moss or Brad Childress to win. In fact I am a firm believer that losing Childress would be additon by subtraction much like Moss. As Dan mentioned in his power rankings the Bears should be closer to 2-6 that 5-3. McDaniels shipped the #4 rushing leader Tony Hillis out of Denver for ****-boy, but he also fleeced the Bears with the Ricky Williams type trade that the Bears will feel for years. The Bears are certainly pretenders and the downward spiral begins this week.
Vikings 24-10
Browns @ Jets If I knew a bookie I am putting our lease on the Browns this week. Jets looked terrible and certainly shouldnt have won that game in Detroit.
Browns 17-14
Colts @ Bengals Manning couldnt pull it out in the end (hehe) against the Eagles and Palmer couldnt complete the comeback against the Steelers. Now that the Bungles are out of the playoff race I fully expect the meltdown to begin. TO is getting way more love than Chad Johnson expected and he was noticably piassed on Monday night. Lewis should be out the door after the season.
I have a theory that every team needs a little white guy to do the dirty work that none of the diva negros will do. People will use adjectives such as "hard working" "blue collar" and "selfless" to describe them. The Pats have Woodhead, the Steelers Tyler Greshem, the Phins Brian Hartline and I forget the no-name guy Fish fed to me the other night that the Eagles have. Bill Polian also has a theory. You take all of those guys and put them on 1 team led by Peyton Manning and you got yourself a contender. Austin Collie? Blair White? Jacob Tamme? Some teams may use a roster spot for one of these guys, but when your receiving corp is made up of them you got a team of "hard workers" with no T.Ocho problems.
Colts 28-13
Jaguars @ Texans I have a confession to make. I will be benching the great Tom Brady in favor of David Garrard this week in fantasy (more on Brady in my Steelets-Pats pick). Garrard had a huge game two weeks ago against the Cowgirls, and he faces the 32nd ranked Houston Texans passing defense this week. This is going to be a shootout which only bodes well for all players involved in the fantasy lineups. Matt Schaub has looked more like Matt Moore this season. Hes got the best receiver in football and the "hard working" Kevin Walter but he just cant get it done. Owen Daniels tore his ACL last season after being a top-3 TE and hes still not healthy. The Texans need to run Arian Foster until the wheels fall off to open up the passing game and keep the swiss-cheese defense on the sideline.
Jags 31-24
Dolphins @ Titans I dont watch the Dolphins often but I was at home last week and the Phins Ravens was the only game on. Dannys right, the running game tore it up on the first drive but it seemed like as soon as they fell behind they panicked and threw the rest of the game. Chad Henne is servicable and switching to Pennington is only taking the team backwards. Not sure what Marshalls problem is but it seems like the Phins struggle to make big plays. Sorry Danny but Brian Hartline is no Mike Wallace.
Titans 23-12 (and Randy Moss finds the endzone)
Buccaneers @ Panthers I am slowly becoming a big Josh Freeman fan. I'd take him over Stafford and Sanchez who he was picked behind in '09.
Bucs 23-3 Lions @ Bills And the winner for the "who-gives-a-****" game of the week goes to...
Lions 28-12
Chiefs @ Broncos Josh McDaniels faces his old head hancho Scott Pioli. Pioli put together one of the best drafts in years getting Eric Berry(stud) Javier Arenas and Dexter McCluster (explosive) and Tony Moeki (Indian). Cant say the same about the Broncos draft because I havent heard Demyrius Thomas of Tim Tebows name called yet. I dont think they will ever let Tebow throw a pass. Chiefs running game is on point, Broncos run defense is just the opposite. Gotta say I like the...
Chiefs 22-9
Cardinals @ Seahawks *yawns*
Hawks ??-??
Giants @ Cowboys My my my how the mighty have fallen. Dont like a single thing about the Cowboys except Dez Bryant. Giants are looking like the best team in the NFC this year and the Cowgirls have given up completly. Jason Garrett may work his way out of any coaching gig next year -- head or coordinator.
Giants 42-14
Rams @ 49ers I dont think the Rams could ask for anything else out of Bradford this season. The Niners could ask for alot more out of every single one of their players. That said, the defense is stepping up and the Troy Smith era continues this weekend.
9ers 17-13
Patriots @ Steelers Back to my fantasy QB rant... Not only has Brady been a shell of himself since Moss left, but the Pats play the Steelers in a game that Fish and I will be attending. I cannot bring myself to even cheer a peep if Brady throws a TD. I am putting all my eggs into one basket, and I will either be really happy that Brady falls on his face and the Steelers win and I benched him, or extremly pissed that Brady throws 4 TDs and beats my Steelers. I like the idea of the former more than the latter. The Steelers dominated the first half of the game against the Bengals on Sunday night. The Bengals dominated the second half of the game against the Steelers Monday night. The reason? The deep threat of TO. The Pats dont have that deep threat with Moss gone so they rely on the short dink and dunks to their "hard workers." The Steelers secondary isnt known for being shut down against the long ball but goddammit they can tackle. Short catches and runs wont work againt the Steelers so I dont see the Pats putting up a whole lot of points here.
Steelers 100-0
Eagles @ Redskins Im surprised my "cardiovascular endurance" held up for such a long post. McNabb is pissed and he should be. Really Shannahan? Rex Grossman? What the hell did McNabb do wrong as a child to deserve this career? Im not really sure how Shanahan expected that to play out... Grossman leads them 90 yards for a game winning TD then you bench McNabb for the rest of the year? Good to know the Skins have a specialty QB for the 2 minute drill. On wait, he was sacked/fumbled/sixed by Suh. Where am I going with this? Well my upset special of the week of course. The Skins had a bye week and McNabb is known for responding well to being benched. Eagles are coming off a big win which isnt always a good thing for the next game. Sorry Fish, nothing personal
ill admit i havent read it all as of yet (nick way to post some great material at 5pm!) but i did see 2 things, skins over eagles?? i'm gonna start a new section, every tuesday morning im giving out C'ME ON MAN section and this is going to lead off.
also, i no weve talked about this b4 but the "hard working" blue collar" tag about little white guys was hilarious. i think weve talked about other sterotypes before but i cant remember. if u remember let me no i think it would be funny. in other news i will be stealing this joke and giving it to bill simmons so if u see me in another mailbag u'll know why.
Nick, great post. I love your choice of words. "Cheer a peep", "Cardio-vascular endurance", "Indian". All instant classics.
However, I got a few issues with your predictions.
First, I wish you luck with David Garrard. You are flipping a coin my friend. But, I'm flipping it with you, I started him in my other leagues as well.
Jacksonville 28 - Houston 24
However, I have to both agree and disagree about the Patriots. Tom Brady is deffinetly not as sharp without his Randy, but they do have a pretty decent deep threat in Brandon Tate. I expect him to have a decent game for the Patriots.
New England 20 - Pittsburgh 10
Second, I think the Rams are going to out play and out play the 49ers. Shut down Frank Gore, and force Troy Smith to throw and you got an instant victory.
Rams 24 - 49ers 13
Here are the rest of my picks. Nick, I will be keeping track of these so we can see who is the best Master Predictor on the forum.
Falcons 24 - Baltimore 17 Miami 22 - Tennessee 21 Minnesota 21 - Chicago 10 Buffalo 31 - Detroit 30 Carolina 17 - Tampa Bay 28 New York Jets 17 - Cleveland 14 Indianapolis 28 - Cinncinati 21 Kansas City 24 - Denver 17 Dallas 17 - New York Giants 35 Seattle 24 - Arizona 20 Philadelphia 27 - Washington 24

MVP Watch 1. Phillip Rivers - This has not been a good season for quarterbacks. Not because they cannot put up big numbers. Not because they can't win. But because the theme of this season has been the inability of wide receivers to get onto the field. You could make a case that Brady loss Moss so he should be #1. But Brady has Bellichek and Welker. You could make the case that Manning lost Dallas Clark and Austin Collie so he should be #1. But Manning has Reggie Wayne. Phillip Rivers has played this entire season without his #1 WR due to his alcohol and attitude issues. In the meantime Rivers leaned heavily on his all-world TE. Until Antonio Gates went down and has been battling a foot injury since the opening week of the season. Enter Malcolm Floyd. Floyd stepped into a great situation and Rivers turned him into a debatably solid #1 receiver. Then the injury bug struck again and took out Floyd. Enter Legadu Nanne then Buster Davis. Yup, same problem. Phillip Rivers is down to the guy that sounds like he should be related to Erymas and Inquatatash Haile-- Seyi Ajirotutu. They've got a FB at the startin tailback posistion and by far the worst special teams unit in the league. All that said, he is still on pace to break the single season passing record by over 400 yards and has nearly 3000 after only 9 games. People do look at records when voting for MVP, but I dont think the Bolts will miss the playoffs. Some players make their teams better (LeBron James) and some players make everyone around them better (Rajon Rondo). Ill take the best point guard in the league thank you very much. 2. Michael Vick - Wait, what? Nick you said Brady and/or Manning could have taken the number 1 spot and you dont even have one of them at #2? Nope. Michael Vick has had a hell of a life. Hes playing the best football of his carrer and its not because of the jail muscles he got while in the pen. Vick is playing to his full potential and its because of 1 person- Andy Reid. I don't think Vick would even be considered a starter on most teams but Andy Reid has proven again why he is such a great QB coach. Case and point look at Donovan McNabb. The guy had a respectable career in the Philly and now hes getting bencched with 2 minutes to play for Rex Grossman. Kolb has shown flashes and now Vick has worked his way into the MVP race. Its noticable that Vick has changed his game since he played for the Falcons. Hes more calm in the pocket and checks down to his 2nd/3rd even 4th reads before taking off and running. Thats not something he learned from Adam Sandler by watching "The Longest Yard". Thats something the coach has engraved in his head. Props to Andy Reid. 3. Brady/Manning - For all the reasons listed under Phillip Rivers, just cut in half.
Offensive MVP 1. Roddy White - Before you say "wow Nick real bold prediction after the huge game he had last night" I will let Danny chime in to confirm that I made this call 2 weeks ago. Need proof? Check his Twitter. White is a beast. He leads the league in receptions, receiving yards, and is second in TDs. Granted he has had an extra game to do it, but he has been the definition of consistant averaging 10 receptions a game. There are 2 types of receivers- possession receivers and deep ball threats. Possession receivers put up big reception numbers but not a whole lot of yards. Roddy White averages 10 receptions a game. Deep ball threats usually pick up the big yards and scores. Roddy White averages 100 yards, over 13 yards a catch and nearly 1 TD a game. Hes not considered the best receiver in the game, but he is having the best season in my opinion. Trivia- what college did Roddy White attend? Answer at the end of this post. 2. Arian Foster - Before this season Arian Foster was a nobody. Now he bows to his sensai every time he scores a TD, and he scores alot of them. He leads the league in rushing yards with an average of 108 per game. Hes scored 9 rushing TDs and 2 receiving. All this while constantly playing from behind because of the Texans piss poor defense. 3. Antonio Gates - This would have been a sexier pick before he got injured and missed time. Still, when a tight end is putting up better numbers than most WR, the dude needs some respect.
Defensive MVP Clay Matthews- And this ones not even close. I dont even know who I would put second. Deangelo Hall? One of the G-mens defensive linemen? (I do like what Malcolm Jenkins is doing in the Nola and Ngata in Balt thou.) Nah, Clay Matthews is playing like the best OLB in the league and the Packers are just getting warmed up. Could he be the first defensive player to win the NFL MVP award since Lawrence Taylor did it the year we were born?
Offensive Rookie 1. Sam Bradford - I'll tell you what, Sam Bradford is no JaMarcus Russel. No Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith not even Alex Smith. Nah, bradford is the real deal. Remember what I said about Rivers? Yea well Bradford is throwing to the "hard working" Danny Amendola now that he lost his top 2 receivers. 2. Mike Williams - Love the youth movement in TB. I told you yesterday how I felt about Josh Freeman and I feel the same love for his #1 target. 3. Steve Johnson - When your 0-8, you've got some douche named Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing to you and you are still putting up numbers like Johnson, you're a pretty good player. 4. Maurkice Pouncy - Fact - an offensive linemen has never won an AP award. Opinion - Maurkice Pouncy will be the best center in all of football in 3 years. Im not saying he will win this award, Im just saying watch out for this guy because hes a beast.
Defensive Rookie 1. Ndamukong Suh - Ha! I spelled his name without even having to look it up. And hes a defensive linemen. When people are saying your name this often as a rookie DT you must be doing something right. I still cant spell Nnamdi Asomugha. Suh is a man amongst monkeys out there. They move him around more than any DT in the league and he has no problems breaking through a double team. Suh will be good for a loooong time, mark that down. 2. Eric Berry/Earl Thomas - The jury is still out on this one. Both of these guys are awesome at their posistions and its hard for a coach for trust a rookie as the last line of defense at safety. Pioli is turning the Chiefs around and their defense is better than the Hawks so I give the edge to Berry here, but only by the skin of his grundle. 4. TJ Ward - Quietly reminding me of the late Sean Taylor... pour one out for the homie.
Comback Player 1. Michael Vick - Duh. 2. Mike Williams - The whole Phillip Rivers thing... yea reverse that for Williams. 3. Chad Pennington - ?? Can Chad pickup his record THIRD comeback player of the year award? If he takes the Phins to the playoffs he might. If hes so great at "coming back" why dont they just stick with him in the first place?
Coach 1. Andy Reid - Thank you very much Washington Redskins Ill take that second round pick for a washed up bum. And oh yea, the guy replacing McNabb, hell win the MVP award this season. 2. Bill Bellichek - Thank you very much Brad Childress Ill take that third round pick for a washed up bum. And oh yea, he will be cut 4 weeks later and cost you your job. 3. Mike Tomlin - Call me a homo or a homer or whatever you want, but I dont think there are many teams that can lose a top-6 QB for the first 4 games and still make it to 6-2.
Trivia Answer - Roddy White went to the University of Alabama Birmingham, a.k.a. UAB.
wow very impressive, wat u think ur peter king now huh? i agree with most of ur picks, i really like the foster lines about his td celebration bowing to his sensie. also u forgott to mentio brandom grahm for defenseive rookie of the year. he should be somewhere in the mid 20's.
i want a top 5 bust/LVP (least valuable player) section now. lets see wat u got!
I'm not going to put the obvious choices on here like Vernon Ghoulston and injuries dont make you any less valuable to your team.
LVP Awards
You dont want to be on this list. If you are, you might want to file for a codine perscription and learn how to make "purple drank" cause your ass isnt lasting much longer.
Randy Moss/Brad Childress - Is there really anything to explain here? That may have been the worst 1-for-1 trade in the history of the NFL.
Brett Favre - I cant imagine what the Vikings record would be if he didnt come back. I bet Childress cant either. Dont worry Brett you wont be back next season, and its not by (your) choice.
Matt Moore/Jimmy Clausen/DeAngelo Williams/Steve Smith - Remind me again how this team won a single game? John Fox is a good coach and he just cant get anything out of his offense. Fox will be gone after the season but I think it has more to do with his offensive personell than his coaching.
Wes Welker - I love a hard working, blue collar player as much as the next guy but since Randy Moss left Welker is looking more like Tweeter from Varsity Blues. Thats not gonna cut it in the NFL.
Bob Sanders - Time to give up on Bob Sanders. The Colts need to draft a safety soon because they are paying Sanders to sit in an ice tub. Meanwhile the defense is getting completely shredded through the air.
CJ Spiller - Ok ok ok I'll eat crow on this one BUT Jahvid Best isnt exaclty in the running for MVP. Spiller gets like 4 touches a game. I still dont think anyone knows exactly why the Bills took him at 9 when they had 2 good RBs on the roster already and so far Spiller has been a decoy at best.
Jeff Reed - Jeff Reed hates the Steelers. When your a ****ing kicker and you get franchised goddammit you better hit every kick inside of 60 yards. Reed repays the Steelers by embarassing them on and off the field. Get this loser out of here no one wants him around anymore.
Matt Leinart - Stick to mixed martial arts cause you SUCK AT FOOTBALL. Way to get outplayed by Derek Anderson and the Jason Biggs lookalike Max Hall.
Alex Smith - How many chances can one guy get before the team moves on? 5. Thats how many. Out with Smith in with Smith.
On the bubble
These guys need to get their act together before theyre shipped out of town faster than me at a strip club for "too much touching" (long story):
Matthew Stafford - Stafford is great when he plays. Unfortunatly for him hes about as tough as a wet wad of toilet paper. Hes missed more than half the games in the past 2 seasons. Maybe he needs to stop falling directly on his shoulders and put a hand down or something.
Kevin Kolb/Brent Celek - Celek was a great TE last year. Problem is McNabb was captain "ahh theyre coming wheres my outlet pass" and kept Celek involved. Vick can extend the play allowing his receivers to get open and not relying so much on his TE. Kolb was supposed to take over the reigns as the #1 QB. Unfortunatly for him he wasnt ready. Correct me if Im wrong Fish but the Eagles are like 4-1 when when Vick touches the field and 0-2 when he doesnt(?).
Miles Austin - Was never all THAT high on Austin thou he did put up big numbers when Romo was playing. He fell off the map very quickly once Romo got hurt. Hes being outplayed by "buyers remorse" Roy Williams and "thats my mom, man" Dez Bryant. I seriously doubt they get rid of him because of the big contract he just signed, but with a new coach coming in and Jerry Jones running the show anything can happen.
Chad Henne - You gotta think he makes his way back to the field at some point this season but you've got Brandon Marshall, Devone Bess and one of the best rushing attacks in the league and you are averaging like 4 yards a play? Somethings gotta change and its not the people around him.
Shonn Greene - Hes making LT look 24 again.
C'Mon Man moments of the year
Mike Shanahan benching Donovan McNabb - I preached on this yesterday, but to reiterate I've never heard of a "specialty" QB for the 2 minute drill. I dont think we will be hearing of one again for a long time after that debacle.
Wade Phillips face on the sidelines - Phillips looked like a lost 5 year old on the sidesline of the game vs the Packers. No one would even talk to him out of fear that they would be fired after the game also. Im sure hes glad that Jones pulled a Barbaro and put him out of his misery.
The Refs - Calvin Johnson and Arian Foster TDs called back, the Roethlisberger fumble, the phantom pass interference calls that are deciding games, the chest bump and falling to the groud causing excessive celebration penalties. This has been the worst year of officiating since forever. They need to pay these guys as full time employees and get the calls right.
The Commish - These fines are getting ridiculas. The point of a penalty flag is to penalize the player and the team on the field. Tossing in a $10,000 fine for plays that arent even drawing a penalty is absolutely ridiculas. The players would rather get his in the chest than the knee, but Godell just isnt listening. I could rant for hours on the topic and James Harrison in particular, but just know I despise the way the league is handling these hits. It doesnt even stop there- players are getting fines for too short of socks, wrong color cleats, mouthpieces and chin straps.
btw kolb: 2-3 vick: 3-0 (i don't count the redskins as his loss)
dmc and hillis r def breakout players.
also forgot tom cable or hailey as coach of the year.
wish i could right more but a littkle busy and trying to leave early
did get a good quote from kearns on if his going to stick it out 2day at work or go home like he normally does after a long night of drinking and here was his response: "Nacho is gonna try to tough it out, and by tough it out i mean vomit on my keyboard and ask to leave" hahaha
did kearns hook up with Lo's friend last night? i walked upstairs and they were huddling at the top of the steps. im not sure if the awkwardness came from me catching them or if thats kearns way of picking up chicks
haha i no there were close i dont think they actually did. she was afraid to walk down the stairs in her heels and i didnt help the situation by telling lauren tht me n him pull pranks on drunk girls by pushing them down the stairs and video taping it hahaah. i def think kearns awakardness helped, Lo is telling me theyve been sexting all day kearns DOING WORK
not to sound like a hater, but y does every1 think the giants r so good? now obviously im a little biased, but i think the eagles (with vick) r just as good if not better. look who the giants have beaten:
-panthers (worst team in nfl) -bears (average at best) -texans (average) -lions -dallas (bottom 3) -seattle (nothing special)
giants also started 6-0 last year before getting to there tough part of the scheudle and missing the playoffs, i mean what am i missing here about them being a top 5 team?
philly has beaten ATL and INDY, 2 top 10 teams, and the only games they lost vick wasnt in. guess we will see in a few weeks wont we, im pumped
Fish, I don't understand this post. You say the Bears are average at best (they have a first round bye), and the Seahawks are nothing special (they beat the Super Bowl champs and won a playoff game).
Sounds like your so happy about being "right" about the Giants that you overlooked you were wrong about most the rest of your statements.

the seahawks r average, they were 7-9 (and now 8-9) just cuz they got lucky break getting a home playoff game vs the saints and played the game of there season doesnt change that. the browns beat the patriots, does that mean there good? no it was 1 game, and a 7-9 record means exatcly what i said they r, average. and yea the bears got the 2nd seed, but 2 months later does any1 think there the 3rd or 4th best team in the nfc? please get out of here with that. my point was that while every1 had the giants as there #1 team for most of the middle of the eyar i said they were frauds, which is what they were.

So let me get this straight Fish, you want to use the Seahawks 7-9 record as proof that they are just average, but you dont want to use the Bears 11-5 record to say they are not good?
Fish sure likes to pick and choose how he evaluates teams and players.

i dont see how 7-9 is not average? watever, i like how u give me **** for saying the bears r average when i guess they are good, but not props for nailing 2 out of 3, esp when one of those bold predictions was a team every1 had #1 would miss the playoffs. i guess every1 had that one too. or how about we do bold predicitions revisited in week 12 and claim they colts missing the playoffs was "a great pick."
Your an Eagles fan, am I supposed to give you credit for saying a rival team isn't good? Your going to say the same thing EVERY year. This year you just happened to be correct.
