Girl Talk & Freeway EP, haven't gotten a chance to listen yet, but Girl Talk **** is usually great, and I've always liked Freeway from Kanye's 2 Words.
how great was drake last night! the songs like honorable mentions were not only funny but pretty catchy as well. my favorite was side pieces, just in case you wanna listen to it all day here it is:
yeah i gotta admit drake killed it. it helps when hes boys with half the people hes making fun of. the lance cam was great, "i got a text from johnny manziel asking if i wanted to do mushrooms and watch the espys tonight", lebron jokes, "youre my boy kaep too bad crabtree cant catch" and even making fun of himself. side pieces and the rest were hilarious and the best one might have been the skit with blake and chris brown.
I saw parts of the skit, need to re-watch it. I was surprised chris brown was in it but I did some digging and looks like drake and rihana broke up a few months ago so I guess their beef is over. I also heard they were in the studio together so get ready for some hits (music wise not chris brown vs a woman).
as for drakes opening act, I thought he did great as well, esp considering he is a musician and not a comedian. I thought one of his best jokes was making fun of johnny manziel and asking him to watch the ESPYS with him on shrooms. manziel thought it was funny too cuz he tweeted:
my friend asked me a decent question, has there been a song of the summer yet?
I guess you could do with avicci's "summer" or "turn down for what" but idk they're both pretty old at this point. do you have any suggestions so far for song of the summer 2014?

turn down for what is some ****. summer is calvin harris and id say that one cause it was on repeat last weekend. latch by disclosure is catching on. i wanna get better by bleachers is hot too.
ever since i got spotify i get sick of songs even faster than i used to. ive been bumping a lot of white ppl music lately since jack white and foster the people put albums out.
u guys watch the grammy's last night? I saw part of it, but what I liked the most was the kanye clip of him pretending to reenact his steal the mic from the winner (beck) but was just joking. deadspin had an angle (see 2nd clip on link below) of kanye walking up the stage and everyone's reaction was amazing haha. jay z looked terrifed that kanye was going to do something crazy, the guy next to jay z had his eyes wide open and kept saying "oh sh*t, oh sh*t," beyonce was almost begging him to not do anything, and at the bottom you can even see kim kardiashian looked freaked out after kanye walked by her and her friends looked terrified as well hahah that was great. everyone was just dieing when they realized he was just joking but I'm sure that was a very scary moment for a bunch of people in that audience not knowing what kanye was about to do haha.
yeah that was funny and the reactions were priceless.
I love kanyes music, HOWEVER, to tell beck, a guy who plays 14 instruments to make up his ENTIRE band on his own, that he needs to bow down to the artistry of beyonce, who does nothing other than sings vocals on her songs (and doesn't even write the lyrics), is a COMPLETE DOUCHE MOVE.
a little late to post this but whatever. since drake dropped his surprise mixtape a week or 2 ago that's all I've been listening to recently and I will admit, I first I was a little disappointed with it but now I love it. I say I was disappointed by it because typically when I listen to a drake album I cant make it past 3 or 4 songs without hitting repeat on one of them multiple times and with this one it took a while for me to do that. maybe I wasn't listening closely enough at first but I def am enjoying it right now. I love how he killed tyga at the end of the mixtape with his "6pm in NY" that's not like him to call out someone like that so blatantly. what happened to those 2, isn't tyga real close with lil wayne? anyway, i like almost every song on the album but here are my top 5 tracks from this album in reverse order:
apparently there was a shooting of lil waynes tour bus a few weeks ago and TMZ said there is a strong link that leads back to one of young thugs boys. I then read these 2 are in a heavy beef, what started this all again? catch me up!
basically young thug replaced lil wayne as birdmans "son" so lil wayne got pissed and started beefing with him so birdman canceled the carter 5 from releasing earlier this year so lil wayne is suing birdman.
its not. thats why he suing him for like 10m. maybe that will make him release it but they are essentially done.
heres the REAL story here:
whats better is that the carter 5 fills waynes contract quota on cash money so hes free to leave. BUT guess who *had* one album left before he could leave? thats right, drake. So what does he do? he drops IYRTITL as a mixtape, OH WAIT IM GOING TO MAKE IT AN ALBUM LAST MINUTE. thats why it was a surprise album. he now has filled his 5 album contract on CM.
now, that means drake can leave with wayne and be the only 2 artists on Young Money. but wait theres more!
Nicki Minaj only has one album left on her contract then she can leave as well.
so basically everyone is either done or finishing up their last album on CM and those 3 will be independent on young money. this is good news and hopefully wayne will get back to his old ways making good music before baby got rid of mannie fresh.
it also means "Views From The 6" (drakes next album) will be completely independent and he can make whatever music he wants. i (and a lot of other ppl) expect this to be his best album yet.
this is all good news for the team and for the fans. birdman and young thug are taking a HUGE L here because they will be all thats left. I believe thats why birdman refuses to drop C5.
make sense?
2pac and suge knight had an almost identical problem back in the day. some say it may have something to do with his death.
interesting. I guess the next question is why the hell would birdman want to drop lil wayne like this then? esp considering dropping him makes him lose out on drake and nicki which i'm sure is tens of millions of dollars to him. lil wanyne said birdman was his father, what the hell happened between the 2 of them?
theyre just features and ovo radio is a radio station on the new apple music service.
which is BS by the way. spofity was doing just fine until Tidal came along providing "exclusive" content. now you need tidal to listen to things like the new lil wayne album. BUT WAIT, now theres apple music with more "exclusive" content like these drake features and radio.
so, if you want to get all the music created, on time, you need to either pay for THREE streaming music services or go old school and just bootleg everything (which is what they we trying to avoid).
on a seperate note, did you see the clip of birdman throwing a drink on lil wayne from the balcony while he was performing a show haha
nick, you listen to "charged up" yet? I thought meeks response was funny, he tweeted something like it was soft like baby lotion and he could tell drake wrote that one haha.
I have other friends who think drake killed it, what do you think?
its not bad. had a minimal beat and he kept his cool and delivered some bars.
still, meek mills music is the exact opposite and i can see why he laughed it off. apparently meeks response will air tonight at 7 on flunk flex radio show. should be very different haha.
im too old for this **** thou. this has nothing on 50/em vs. ja rule back in the day when they released entire mixtapes of straight fire. now its all thru twitter. 2pac and biggie didnt die for this ****.
ya I agree, and drake is my favorite rapper right now and I cant even get worked up over it. this will get squashed at some point down the line, esp with the nicki/drake relationship, and this will be nothing and they will probably be on a song together in the near future. I remember how everyone got all worked up over Kendrick lamars track a few years ago calling everyone out and what was the result of that?
I don't really know how the rap game truly works, but is it even a big deal if someone helps write or "ghost writes" a hook for someone on a few tracks? I thought that was pretty common. isn't a lot of rap about delivery anyway? I heard the "leaked track" that this QM Miller guy wrote for drake on one of the mix tape songs (10 bands), and maybe I'm biased but drakes version sounded a lot better.
idk, I guess I thought all the top musicians in every category (pop, rap, country, etc) had a team of producers and co-writers helping them make a song before it gets released. that's why these top guys are so good, because they have a great team around them, anyone really think the biebs is making all the hooks himself? it's not like drake stole a guys freestyle and said it was his, that would be a little different. oh well, like you said, im not about to get all worked up over this.
haha ya I heard this today as well, im surprised drake is going so hard at meek with these comeback diss tracks, not like drake. he was the one who said "diss me and you'll never hear a reply for it." guess meek hit a soft spot.
the tracks are a little slow for me, but everyone i am hearing/reading thinks drake is killing him so he must be doing something wright. I do like the pic he put up I thought that was hilarious.
