looks like 2mrw's o's game is being played...but closed to the public. yup, a baseball game being played in a legit empty park, that's gonna be weird.
this weekend series is also being moved to FL, so looks like o's are gonna lose out on those home games as well. sucks because my company was supposed to have a happy hour at frank and nicks (located next to pickles) and then we all had tickets to the game. now I have to be in bed by 10pm according to the curfew!
imagine how much money the o's are losing with getting at least 4 home games taken away from them plus refunding back tickets to people who already purchased them to another game.
congrats josh I'm sure your super pumped by the mets this October. obv I'm not much of a baseball fan but I don't mind the playoffs esp if I only have to watch the last 1-2 innings. when I first started hanging out with Allie she claimed she was a huge baseball fan and in fact our first serious "date" as a couple was the orioles/royals playoff game last year, which initially got me kind of nervous because I did not want to be stuck in a house watching baseball games all week. but after being with her for a year as you can imagine she is nowhere near as big a fan as she once claimed and to prove that after the mets won last night I asked Allie who she was rooting for, cubs or mets. she said "mets. the cubs win all the time don't they? lets give someone else a chance."
hahaha oh allie.
also, what is the deal with these baseball teams going HAM after every playoff series win? i get the celebration winning the division in the regular season and all the excitement for the big games, but do we really need new T-shirts and Champaign bottle sprays after every round?? i even saw one dude on the mets in the club house last night carrying one of those fake WWE belts around. umm what exactly did you win again? Imagine if the packers did that after beating dallas last year in round 2, how did their season end up? i don't get why baseball is like this where no other sport is until at least the super bowl/finals.
1) I can't begin to tell you how I'm feeling. It's been 9 years in the wilderness and I'm finally out of it.
2)deGrom has some BRASS balls, damn
3)The belts been a clubhouse thing since day one, nothing to see here.
4)It's just the tradition at this point, personally I love it. It's a long ****ing season, they deserve to go HAM with some champs and beers.
5)HAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! (about the cubs letting the mets win)
6)Fun fact: If you've noticed the guy whos been MURDERING it for the Mets is Daniel Murphy.... The Cubs curse stems from 100+ years ago the team wouldn't allow this fan to bring his goat into the game, so he put a curse on them or something stupid.... the best part though? The name of that goat was Murphy!
As of 10 a.m. ET, the cheapest secondary-market price for a standing-room ticket to Game 3 of the World Series (the first game in New York) was $705. (via Darren Rovell)
i forgot to say something when I saw this on sunday, but man high sweet are those royal championship jersey and hats with the gold on them? are they going to be wearing them all season long or was this a one time series thing?
haha yea I saw he shut them down last night. I liked the gold touch, I like when teams get to do something special after winning a title and having gold on their jerseys doesn't seem like much but I thought it was pretty cool
so what did you guys think of that brawl on sunday? i knew the bad blood was due to the bat flip in the playoffs last year, but i didn't realize the rangers intentionally hit joey bats on his last at bat of the season vs them haha, talk about planning ahead. part of me liked it because it showed the rangers wouldn't let a guy get away with showing them up, but a bigger part of me hated it because this is all over something that happened last October and now its going to linger for another season and into next year (or maybe even the playoffs) over a damn bat flip. like how many unwritten rules do these players have and when does it ever end??
"During the 8th inning of Sunday’s Blue Jays-Rangers game, Bautista was hit by a pitch that put him on base. In that same inning, he was called out at second base during an attempted double play. However, Bautista slid late into second. Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor was not having any of it, so he punched Bautista right in the jaw, causing both benches to clear. Odor and Bautista were 2 of 6 players ejected from the game because of this fight."
well the fight started over baptista sliding into odor late to prevent a double play so it wasnt just the stuff from last year. and that was after he was hit by a pitch to put him on first to be in position for the double play.
i think getting pissed over the bat flip stuff is kinda dumb, but if someones sliding into my knees with that kind of history with my team im swinging also.
the fight wasn't because of the slide, that happens all the time. i'll give you a punch wasn't going to get thrown until/unless the slide happened, but this whole thing was over last years playoffs and the bat flip. the rangers intentionally waited until batista's last at bat vs them in this weekend series (and the season in general) and then intentionally threw at him even though the game was still on the line. batista was obvious pissed he got thrown at, and the timing of it all, and then when the opportunity came to break up the double play he went at the 2nd basemen even harder and then things exploded from there.
right. that was the best baseball punch ive seen in awhile. I wonder how long he will get suspended, cuz I know if this happened in basketball the dude would be suspended half the season.
