dude u watched a movie ONE TIME then put it over certified classics like Toy Story. THAT is crazy...
i said it was good. the idea was terrific as are all of pixars. but, i cant relate to a 10 year old girl and her feelings while going through puberty. so while the ideas for the lands, memories, trains etc were wonderful, the storyline was very limited especially when compared to things like wreck it ralph where it weaved through entire video game lands, classic arcade machines and the "real world" arcade, or even lego movie where it switches between imagined lego lands and real live people.
i can see allie or danielle enjoying inside out more, but as a 30 y/o man, the whole 10 year old girls feelings storyline was meh. this movie was NOT top 10 in my book.
I didn't say the movie was ahead of the entire toy story series, and our convo from Friday was in regards to the past 10 years so toy story 1 doesn't even count. with that said, I would probably have inside out ranked #3 over the past 10 years behind leggo and toy story 3 but ahead of others we talked about like monsters inc, cars, wreck it ralph, etc.
while I get what the actual story line is, for me, it wasn't about a 10 year old girl going through puberty, it was more so about how the brain works and the way Pixar displayed it was brilliant to me. obviously there aren't 5 different colored emotions who control us, but the way it was broken down and how each "island" is made up as a branch of our personalities and then having imagination land for our memories as kids, dreamworks productions for dreams, subconscious darkland for our fears, "core memories" and how each memory throughout the day was a different color which then went into storage were all amazing examples of symbols that went a lot deeper than what you claim the story line to be.
saying what you said would be like saying the leggo movie was about a kid playing with his dads leggo set, get out of here. I guess you weren't high enough.
oh i get it. the memories thing was a great idea like i said earlier but all their movies have similar ways of popping up creative symbols. monsters inc using the door factory to symbolize kids closet doors and the mosters they believe are hiding inside is just one quick example off the top of my head.
but it wasnt enough. going by the "inside out #1" text i got from u friday night i figured you put inside out at #1. which is way too high for me. movies are always best right after u see them for the first time, so i hope the next pixar movie doesnt go straight to the top for u as well.
i have seen toy story more than 20 times in my life im sure, and most of my top 5 at least 5 times, but have no desire to see inside out even twice. its just an opinion
yall see the new batman superman trailer? batman using guns now?! the logistics of this movie seem off... how could batman ever kill an immortal superman without kryptonite? jessie eisenberg as lex luger may help. woah, superwoman?
this movie is either gonna be great or terrible.
suicide squad on the other hand...................................

spoiler alert? I honestly dont know. but apparently in the comic batman uses a kryptonite bullet to kill superman. not sure if these are related but its funny i mentioned both in the same post.
havent seen those 2, fish. arent they both still in theaters? will prolly see hunger games at some point, as much as i want good dinosaur to be good i heard it "lacks the normal crativity of a pixar movie" which is about as big an insult as you can find.
no will smith for independence day 2? besides men in black does he ever do sequels?
also, I almost made a hungover/high decision the other day to watch this movie, nick your my man for animations what are you hearing on the streets about it?
no spoilers I have not seen this yet, but thoughts on the new star wars? i liked the series a lot but not obsessed with it (gf could care less), so is it worth going to the theater for, or wait til on demand?
my roommate was re-watching the original 3 this past week and I might have to do that at some point before watching this one. I think I watched them 10-15 years ago and I don't remember half (or say 80%) of the stuff from them!
with that said, does this new one kinda take away from the fact star wars was always supposed to be a 6 part series with a complete story line? or is star wars going to become like one of those comic book movies like say batman where they do the 3 part series, wait a few years, and then do a different story line and they can always stay relevant and keep making money off it. not that doing that is a bad thing because it always brings in new fans who weren't around when this was big in the 70s, but I guess my point is it kinda taints the original series if they are going to keep making news ones. I guess now that I think about it rocky might be a better comparison, but hopefully you get my point.
yeah my roommate did the same thing last night and said it was good. i've been disappointed in red box recently, haven't seen anything I think I would like in weeks. I just checked again today and saw "Sicaro" came out and I remember the previews looked decent for that. anyone else see or hear about that movie?
danielle said sacario was great and shes not really into those types of movies. i am actually really interested in that one. otherwise i checked out redbox the other day and yeah it SUCKS right now. i wanted Dope or Straight Outta Compton and neither were on there. verizon wants $6 for dope and 16 for SOC. maybe that ones not on dvd yet but still get ur **** together redbox.
revenant won best picture? Ive been on that bandwagon for weeks, even moreso that star wars. cant freaking wait to see that. might even make it to the theater.
looks awesome. so what's the story line, shouldn't these guys be boys? haha, they both are trying to fight crime and save whatever city they are in right? from the trailer it looks like they are rivals and are trying to out do each other until whatever monster comes at the end and then they have to beat him. am I missing anything?
Bruce Wayne was in metropolis during Superman's fight with Zod at the end of Man of Steel. He saw the devastation and destruction first hand and decided one being with the power of a god is not good. The movie will follow Batman attempting to depower/get rid of Superman as he doesn't trust him and as I said before, doesn't think one man with that much power should be allowed to go unchecked. So they fight they argue and in the mean time Lex Luthor gets ahold of Zod's body and mutates it into Doomsday, the big monster looking guy. This causes Bats and Supes to drop their fight and team up to take down Doomsday, and OH whats this? Wonder Woman pops in for ****s and giggles too.
well that makes sense. i like that jessie eisenberg is lex luther. this movie has potential, although it will be extremely hard to top christopher nolans trilogy.
i heard they have 5 additional star wars movies in the making? 2 more of the original storyline and 3 spin offs? ay yi yi. i also accidently read a spoiler yesterday which im not happy about. it was an instagram picture of a guy who posted a major spoiler in big block letter stickers on the back window of his SUV. what a dick!
watched sicario last night. kinda good, kinda weak. the scene by scene action was fantastic. when they find people dead in the walls of the house at the beginning was creepy as ****. some great action throughout.
but the story SUCKED. the whole movie was about a team of people looking for a cartel lord and in the end it only took benecio de toro a few minutes to crack the case on his own.
i dunno man, it was a very entertaining movie but again, the story was basic and made little sense and was very dissapointing that nothing ever came out of it.
the martian on deck tonight. looks super intellegent so im excited to check it out. how it was considered a "comedy" at the golden globes is beyond me
so my trusty new site and 4 days snowed in allowed me download and watch quite a few new movies. below is the order in which i enjoyed them and a quick synopsis
straight outta compton - saw this one in theaters but LOVE this movie. Will certainly be one of the ones I cant skip over when its on tv.
the revenant - this one was good but not because of action or dialoge or anything like that. the scenery and camera shots of this movie are incredible. it feels like an episode of planet earth how beautiful and breath taking the settings are. the movie isnt bad either. id compare it to Cast Away in the sense that Leo is in the middle of now where by himself with little dialoge for long periods of time. hes left for dead in indian territory after a VICIOUS bear attack and must find the man that not only left him for dead, but killed his son so their people wouldnt know about it, all while avoidig indians trying to kill his ppl for taking their land. but let me tell you -- that bear attack was EVERYTHING i hoped for. absolutely unconfortable and hard to watch. all in all Leo nailed this movie. a LITTLE less than I hoped for because its a bit slow but def one to see.
black mass - i figured this would be another American Gangster but it wasnt. Johnny Depp is good as expected as whitey bulger but the problem was the guy (bulger) himself was a real douche. he was working with the FBI to bring cases against his enemies so he didnt have to go to war with them himself. he preached the whole time about not snitching but was ****ching while he did it. as for the movie, it was good, not great. there were deaths and other "gangster" staples but the whole movie didnt seem to have an objective or really even a plot. just kinda went along about how he was working with the FBI and killing off his enemies at random. the acting was FANTASTIC thou. I think this may be one of those movies that really grows on me so i suspect Ill enjoy this one alot more the second time thru, and it may even surpass revenant. part of the issue was all these old, fat, boston dudes look the same so its sometime hard to know who theyre talking about or referring too. def worth the redbox view but dont spend $20 to buy it on demand.
creed - man, im ranking some good movies here and they are closer than they appear. Im a HUGE michal b jordan (wallace from the wire) fan and wood harris (avon) is in it as well. didnt quite have the feel of the old rocky movies thou, which is why it dropped for me. he was brought straight thru the boxing ranks WAY too fast because he was apollos son which made it a bit unrealistic. he and stallone are good, but this movie could have been better. mostly a typical boxing movie with good actors. Id take southpaw over this one anyday.
hateful 8 - didnt have a chance to watch this one yet so when I do ill give a synopsis.
haha nice, sounds like you had a great snow weekend! those are all movies I want to see but none of them were on demand other than straight out of Compton which allie wasn't in the mood for at the time (SURPRISE!) but I'm sure I will get to all of them at some point. what movie did I watch instead? zoolander friday night followed by the minions movie on Monday!
zoolander: with zoolander 2 coming out i knew i had to watch this and as long as you have some PED's in your system you will definitely enjoy this one. a lot of dumb comedy but I see why this is a classic. with that said I don't see how zoolander 2 is going to be any good, I've just seen too many comedy's try to run the same type of jokes years later and it just isn't the same (dumb and dumber comes to mind) but we'll see.
minions was everything I expected. a kids comedy that would have a handful of laughs throughout with no real plot. it was only like 90 minutes so quick and easy and was pretty enjoyable.
I had no idea deadpool was this popular, I saw it broke the box office record for a rated R movie. I know super hero movies have been around forever, but is it me or are studios now (past 3-4 years) just putting any comic book guy and making them into a movie or has this been going on for awhile?
so what's the early buzz on batman v superman? is it going to be epic or a disappointment? I think I read somewhere the early reviews weren't great and it was a little dark, hopefully that's not true, but let me know what you guys have heard...
Can't find an middle ground on this one, people are either saying it's dog **** or it's awesome. I'm going tonight will report back to base tomorrow. IMO i think it'll wind up being about a 6-7/10 for me, we'll see.
do you think people are saying that because they are comparing them to the Nolan batman movies? I don't remember the previous super man ones being that good.
