Enjoyed the hell out of it, the critics are being insanely harsh couldn't tell you why. It's no cinematic masterpiece, but for a 2 and a half hour movie i felt like it flew by and I was always entertained. Go see it, Solid B rating from me.

so what's the deal with this new star wars movie?  is it a surprise or did people know it was coming?  the trailer doesn't look like it has any of the well known people in it, is this a completely different story?

It's been announced for some time... It's apparently the story of the rebels who stole the death star plans that were inside of R2D2 in the first movie.

I think it looks great so far.

so is this apart of the new 3 part series or is this completely different?  and are they now going to be busting out all these random star wars movies going further?

we went from what 6 in 40 years to now 1 every year?

This is set before Star Wars IV: A New Hope, so it's a stand alone story.

Yes, every other year for the next few years, one year will be the main saga, the off year will be a stand alone tale

you guys see the new suicide squad and civil war trailers :)

I thought i was more excited for civil war since iron man is the ultimate super hero, but that SS trailer is creepy af. I hope they dont get too sci-fi with it because the clown-house feel is much cooler. i didnt realize ben affleck as batman was in it as well, and word is he gets much more screen time than they originally thought.

when do these come out again?

they both looked good to me as well.  It was weird watching the MTV movie awards last night, I felt old as hell doing it haha but those movies def look like they're going to be good.  I'm worried that the new joker is going to be ruined based off the dark knight, I think a lot of people are going to have that same issue even if this new guy kills the role.  anyway, suicide squad comes out in august and civil war comes out next month.

speaking of movies, I just watched spotlight over the weekend, either of you see that?

are you joking about spotlight?  it won picture of the year for the Oscars a month or so ago.  I thought it was good, and it was obviously really well done since it won an Oscar, but I like those kind of movies that are very realistic and based on a true story so i thought it was very interesting.  there is not a lot of action so if that is what you are looking for then this movie is not for you.  I would check out the trailer and see what you think from there, but I thought it was good, it wasn't a slow movie and it was pretty easy to follow.

of the past 6 best picture winners I have seen one of them (argo). best picture is not usually casual fan friendly. i know you're a movie connoisseur but id be surprised if youve seen birdman, 12 years a slave, kings speech or the artist either.

spotlight looks ok. if you liked that you have GOT to see the big short. that was one of my favorite movies in a while. ryan gossling and steve carrell short the housing market making billions while causing their closest friends to go bankrupt and lose everything. SUCH a great movie.

room wasnt bad either. it gets a bit slow but the premise is awesome and the acting is great.

star wars was psoted to verizon fios but only to buy. guess ill wait until I can get my hands on a rented copy.

I'm more of a get drunk/high and watch an animation movie kinda guy, but i have been on a more adult movie kick as of late.  I saw big short a week or 2 ago and I liked it a lot as well.  it was particularly interesting to me because I somewhat work in that industry so I have a general understanding of it (the buying and selling of the shorts is more wall street, I'm more the person who was bragging about selling loans to people who don't qualify for them, only if that was me in 2006).  so yea I liked it a lot.  I was surprised about you not hearing about spotlight because I thought you watched the Oscars a few weeks ago when it was on, that's why I couldn't tell if you were joking or not when you asked about it.  other than argo I haven't seen any of the other best winners in prolly the past 5 years, but anyway it was good so you should check it out at some point.

I've been waiting for star wars to hit redbox/on demand as well.  I got really excited because I saw it on redbox's website on Friday so I thought for sure it was out and I was really excited to watch it but then like you said I checked on demand and it was only available to buy so that wasn't happening.  to make matters worse, it took me like 15-30 minutes of convincing allie to watch it with me (she was not having it) and after me promising her certain things she finally agreed and then that was when I got even more excited only to find out it was just to buy no

so what was the thing I agreed to do?  watch that movie "sisters" with her one night, and then that became our Friday night instead!  to review sisters, i'll give you one word: DUMB

hahahahaha.

maybe ill DL star wars. im not in that big of a rush to see it. DD is out of town on business until friday so i need to find some things to do. was thinking about seeing batman superman.

sorta unrelated - taking a break from lost with her out of town, and gonna watch GoT season 5 after she gets back but before 4/24, but i started watching the office as mindless tv while i look at my phone. and now im hooked. ive seen most of the episodes in the past, at least the early ones, but its still so so good. there are like 200 episodes on netflix so im sure ill get bored before i finish but its been underrated for a while much like the simpsons now that there are just so many episodes and the real hype faded years back.

never heard of kodi.

nick, its funny you say that because me and allie went back and watched a few episodes from season 1 of the office as well and we were both dying.  I doubt I make it past season 1 but so far its been great to re-watch those episodes and I agree, I like going back to older series that became really successful and watching season 1 again.  I did that with entourage as well and plowed through the first 2.5 seasons but I'm starting to slow down on it now that I'm in season 3.  that is a great re-watchable show as well.

Kodi is a platform that collects streams from throughout the internet, it's usually sideloaded onto items such as the Amazon Fire Stick, in essence giving you access to nearly any movie/tv show ever.

I've had it for roughly a month and off the top of my head have watched: Concussion, Trainwreck, Hail Caesar!, San Andreas, Goosebumps, Inside out, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, Daddy's Home, The Big Short.

Not to mention tv shows: 11.22.63/Shameless/etc....

If you buy an Amazon firestick, it's incredibly easy to set up....

Step one;

seo-michael.co.uk/tutorial-how-to-install-kodi-on-a-firestick/

Step two;

seo-michael.co.uk/how-to-install-phoenix-for-xbmc/

Step three;

seo-michael.co.uk/how-to-install-exodus-for-kodi/

Step four;

Trust me on this, you won't be sorry, buy your stick now.

so i saw batman superman last night in imax 3d. im a bit torn and can see both sides of the reviews. some minor spoilers below for dont read fish if you care.

half of me feels like it was lame ("do you bleed".... "well you will" was soo cheesy haha) but the other half of me feels like it was more of a super hero movie than the dark knights ever were. there was certainly a more super hero feel to it, i actually thought the actors, especailly jessie eisenberg, were great and i enjoyed the action.

i didnt love the story thou. unless im missing somehting i cant believe he changed his mind when he had the drop on him, literally a kryptonite spear to his neck, simply because his mother had the same name as batman. after years of searching for him including a lot of destruction and pain hes willing to completely let him off and team up with him because they share the same mothers name? its not the same person right? and a nuclear weapon? haha it doesnt get more unnecessary than that. lex luthers role in the story was good.

it was cool to see batman kill people. that was different. and watching them do their own superhero thing (i.e. superman saving the exploding space craft) was awesome plus the fight scenes between the two. the final villian (doomsday right?) was just ok. he was certainly a beast but a bit too sci-fi IMO.

overall i enjoyed it more than the reviews led on. I do think they could have done some things better but trying to live up to the dark knight trilogy is impossible. i do give affleck credit for batman, but i think he could have done better as bruce wayne. superman was much more badass than i anticipated. wonder woman was HOT (moreso as a civilian) and it will be cool when they bring in aquaman, flash and cyborg.

6.5/10 and will watch the next one.

Why didn't Bats kill him? Simple, throughout the movie he kept saying to Supes "YOU ARE NOT A MAN ALIEN" continuously, when he heard that not only that their mothers had the same name... but that he actually HAD a mother, made him realize that he wasn't a thing, but was a man. A man with a life and a mother etc etc....

I dont remember being a big fan of finding nemo and I'm the type who loves those kind of movies.  I'm pretty sure allie wants to see it so i'll bet at some point I will see it.  if I had to chose I'd rather watch angry birds but what I'm really waiting for are those 2 pet/animal animation movies to come out.

watched batman vs superman over the weekend, thought it was pretty much in line with what a lot of other people thought.  i asked a bunch of people and they all said nothing special but it was good and should see it, so I did, and thought it was solid but def not epic like the past 3 batman movies which made me love the batman character.  this movie had a ton of action which was great, but I thought the plot jumped around a lot which confused me and the character development was weak so i wasn't really rooting for anyone which is what i feel like you need in a superhero movie like i did in batman vs the joker or bane.  i had the same thoughts as nick about why batman didn't just kill superman when he had the chance, are you really telling me batman wanted him dead for 2 years and thought he was this huge risk to the world and then superman says one word and now they're boys and tag team partners about to save the world???  not buying it.  anyway, here where my 3 biggest questions about the movie that i still don't understand:

1. what the hell was that dream scene all about when batman gets captured and then superman walks into the dungeon and takes his mask off?

2. what was the meaning behind the whole African war lord scene where the undercover CIA guy gets killed and superman shows up to save Louis Lane as the reporter?  was lex trying to set superman up to do something?

3.  umm so what exactly was the plan for lex if/when the monster killed superman?  was he supposed to take control of him or something and make him his pet haha.  wouldn't that thing just go on to destroy the world next?

1) A glimpse at a possible future had batman not saved Superman's mother

2)Pretty much, theres an extended edition of the movie that supposedly clears this up better. In essence yes, Lex was just setting Superman up

3)He's kind of lost his mind in total at this point.... there was this whole sub-plot where Lex makes contact with these God like beings and it warps his mind (these god like people will be the bad guys in the upcoming Justice League movie) but they cut it for time

apparently hes also in suicide squad.

speaking of cross-movie characters jessica jones has been put on hold until 2018 until they put out iron fist, luke cage and defenders. plus daredevil is mixed in somehow.

watched jungle book the other night and it was pretty solid.  def not like other Disney remakes and allie really liked it so if your girls are into the old Disney movies this is a good one to watch.  I didn't remember any of the old character names but she remember them all and they were all in there like the snake, the big ape and of course the bear and jaguar etc, please they even had that song that was real popular as kids.  eddie also freaked out a few times when he saw all animals in some of the scenes heard the noises esp on my big screen so be careful if your dogs like to watch tv with you!

yeah i may be underratting it a bit. gosling and russ crowe were great as expected. it lost me in the middle (i guess on purpose) but came full circle in the end. if you can accept (enjoy?) the (70s porn) cliches then i can see how ppl like it. i think it may have also had something to do with watching it on a crowded airplace... lots of nudity made it a bit awkward. why do airlines provide movies like that on seatback tvs?

def dont want to turn you away from it.

either of you see the secret lives of pets movie?  it came out to rent on demand this week so I'm sure I am going to watch it at some point.  I remember the previews looked epic and I like animation movies so I was really excited, but a lot of people told me it wasn't that great and it wasn't what they expected esp after seeing the previews.  it still got a 75% on the Comcast on demand screen so that's a decent rating, what did you guys think/hear about for this movie?
