yeah comics are actually a pretty good money maker again, they both almost went bankrupt back around 2000, the movies helped revitalize it big time. Quick research shows that the #1 selling comic book last month (The Death of Wolverine, yep he died) sold 250,000 issues.
TMNT and Wolverine were my go-to comics as a kid. i had no idea how to actually read them (the format was confusing not the words) but i loved the colors and looking at the pictures.
my mom prolly still has them. im sure some are in pretty bad shape but i bet a couple of them could be worth some money. its a sad day to learn that wolverine has died (thought that was impossible).
honestly, other than the avenger movies im not sure which ones of those will even do well. havent heard of a lot of them. i prefer the pixar movies myself.
ha interesting. I actually semi enjoyed comics when I was younger, my aunt worked somewhere and she would bring home like 50 comics for me every time she came over and got my mom pissed because I would just stash them in a pile. from what I remember I really liked spawn and captain America. as for the movies, I enjoy certain ones such as the avengers, iron man, and obviously batman. other than that I'm not really into them I don't think I've seen any of the Xmen movies. I do wanna see the guardians movie so hopefully that hits redbox soon.
noo i kno but thats the first one ben afflack is in? feel like they have been promoting that for a year already. i guess it was just the pic that leaked of the batmobile
my boy saw dumb and dumber 2 last night and said it was awful. one of the worst movies hes ever seen actually. I didn't think the previews looked good either so this doesn't surprise me.
yeah i think ive got a pretty good sense of humor, especially when smacked out of my mind, so ill see whats up.
speaking of that... fish we had some good times in riverside watching comedies on a weeknight. cars was especially funny but i remember laughing hysterically at some movies. obviously family guy and jersey shore caused some laughs too
they best was toy story I thought, I know theres plenty more but I can't think of any that really pop out other than that. Idk what it is I guess my tolerance to weed has really increased because I never get super smacked like that anymore and I kinda miss those times where I just laugh hysterically at everything. the last time I really lost it was for that comedy central tv show Nathan for you because I like those kinda show. speaking of which, I found a new show I love, its on truetv its called the carbonardo effect. I love magic trick shows and this like a much lesser version of david blaine so this new guy goes to like hardware stores and just tricks the sh*t out of people into thinking some of their "new items" are actually for sale but its really just a hidden camera magic trick haha. here are some of the clips if you wanna give it a shot:

saw sin city 2 over the weekend. thought it was ehhh. not a bad movie but I just thought it was a worse version of the original. to be honest, while I was watching the sequel all I kept thinking was that I wanted to watch the original again because I forgot what happened with a lot of the minor details haha.
I watched Snowpiercer myself this weekend, it's on Netflix and I thought it was really damn good.
Chris Evans is in it. It's set in the future where an experiment to fix global warming has gone wrong and the world goes into an ice age, the only human survivors are on this train that transverses the entire globe, a class system develops on the train (poor in the back/rich in the front) and the poor work their way to the front of the train in a "revolution"
GOOD STUFF
I did not see SinCity2, I just didn't have the interest.
no clue. it seems totally unrelated. its an island where people can come to a park to hang out with dinosaurs. SPOILER ALERT the dinosauers escape and take over and the ppl are left running for their lives.
just watched the 1st hunger games movie the other day, thought it was def good but I am a little surprised about all the hype it got. from what I remember when this movie came out 2-3 years ago everyone was going nuts over it and it was the biggest thing out, I didn't think it was THAT good. maybe the 2nd movie or all the books pushed it over the top and we'll see (I plan on watching #2 sometime this week) but for now I enjoyed it but you won't be seeing me buying any of the merchandise/Tshirts like nick did years ago. anyway I had one question (no spoiler if it is in the future movies):
what are the point of "sponsors?" the 1st movie really made that a key focus but I never really saw it have any effect once they got on the battlefield.
i believe it was the first movie where the sponsor dropped the parachute with the Neosporin while she was in the tree, no? sponsors def aren't as key as they made them out to be, at least thru the first 2.
I loved the movies. they aren't the greatest movies ever but they are def fun to watch. the thing about the HGs is that they started as books and people LOVED them. a lot of people who were into the books were actually disappointed by the movies. I think the hype was more around the books than the movies but ppl like me who aint got time for all that enjoyed the movie more than the ppl who were die hards based off the books.
got it, that actually does make sense. and you're right about the sponsor part, I just thought they were going to make a bigger impact than that since the whole pre battle lead up was planned out that they needed to do things to impress the sponsors, they kept saying it was a tv show, and even the love story angle etc, I thought they would have been more of a factor once the fighting started.
just watched the 2nd hunger games movie last night...pretty good!
I'm prolly not the only one who saw this coming early on, but I def knew Phillip Seymour Hoffman's character was going to flip eventually and be on the "good side." didn't realize it was going to happen with 5 minutes left in the movie but still it was good to see that happen. a few questions:
- with Hoffman now dead, how does that effect movies 3 and 4?
- is watching movie 3 a must do now that it is in theaters or should I wait for redbox? my boy said #3 was a little disappointing which is why I ask.
- why does the capital continue to do some of the things it does? I thought the reason it does the hunger games every year was to "keep the peace" but how is having the winning people from these districts go on a parade tour celebrating them a good idea? all it does is make these people likable and then to kill them off seems like the worst possible idea to AVOID a future riot. imagine if America brought back 24 Olympic heros and had a huge tv show celebrating them and then went "ok, 23 of these people are now going to die!" of course that's going to piss people off, I didn't get how this 75th anniversary idea was a good idea for the capital.
Hoffman finished filming everything for 3, so you're good to go there not sure about 4 tho... Also, I personally REALLY liked the 3rd movie a lot, if you got nothing to do a trip to the movies wouldn't be a bad idea.
Basically it was their excuse to execute Katniss (the growing symbol of a rebellion) without outright just publicly killing her as a warning.
my 2014 most hesitated-to-watch movie guardians of the galaxy may get a spin tonight. heard nothing but great things. not my cup of tea. will report back tomorrow.
I tried renting it on redbox last night but I saw nothing for it in there even tho on their website it said it came out yesterday. how are you going to watch it?
finally downloaded and watched TMNT last night. for as transformer-esq as some of the action was, different the turtles looked, how they slightly modified the way that they were injected with the ooze, and came up with a premise reminisant of every other comic book movie...
it was the most awesome, nostalgic, hilarious, fun 2 hours ive had in a looooong time. you actually stop noticing that they look different than in the past. the personalities are exactly the same and they are awesome. I was worried shredder was literally a transformer but it was just a bad ass 2014 suit. april oneil (megan fox) was as smoking as ever, and there were more shout outs to the old movies than I ever expected.
I don't think there was any chance I wouldn't love the movie because of how big of a fan I was as a kid, but after hearing a lot of bad reviews I was plesently surprised with the whole thing.
heres to hoping they bring rocksteady and bebop back for the second!
that's good to hear. I forgot what exactly was said but I know a few people told me it either wasn't good or they heard it wasn't good so I didn't know what to think.
I too was a die hard TMNT fan (although that was 15-20 years ago) but still I was excited to see this so now that you are giving it your approval I will give it a shot next week when it comes out on red box.
did you end up watching guardians of the galaxy as well?
how crazy is all this stuff with North Korea (supposedly) and the Interview hacks/threats on sony? now I'm reading they might not even release the movie at in theaters.
isn't it hypocritical that the reason thse hackers and people are angry at this movie is because it is promoting violence (killing the North Korea leader) yet what they are doing is threatening violence on anyone who attempts to see the movie?? how does that make any sense.
pretty sure theyre pissed were making fun of their country and leader in a comedy movie. I don't think they care much about the violence aspect except the fact they are trying to kill their leader.
its kinda of a bitch move by us TBH. unless they can really substantiate these threats I don't understand why were backing down to some hackers. this could be an old fat dude in his parents basement. if they can prove these are actual threats, which they must have done to cause so many problems, then that's one thing.
but I don't remember the USA backing down on this kind of stuff before. the boston marathon was run this year, the world trade center reopened, im sure there are bomb threats and even larger general threats everyday but its not like everything stops for them. this is a major motion picture and im really surprised they are shutting it down like this.
on a releated note, homeland has been fantastic again this season. you want to learn more about this kind of stuff and see some great writing check out that show.
