I use to love homeland but it started getting too 24ish for me end of season 2. I watched a few episodes of season 3 and just wasn't into it and then I heard it was getting terrible so I stopped watching. I did hear from multiple people that season 4 has been really good so I might have to jump back into it, do I need to watch season 3 as well or is it something i can skip?
I watched TMNT last night and enjoyed it. I'm not saying it was an all timer or anything but it def brought back a lot of memories and i thought it blended how i remembered them as a 5-10 year old into the 2014 world. shredder def looked like a bad ass terminator tho. are they planning on making a follow up movie to this?
also, watching the movie made me wanna bust out my old super Nintendo and start playing this game once again:
So some interesting news came out last night, Marvel has negotiated with Sony to obtain the movie rights to Spider-Man, so he is now able to be apart of the whole Marvel thing (Avengers/Cap/Iron Man/yada yada) cool stuff.
didn't watch a second of the oscars last night but i saw that birdman won best picture. I never even heard of the movie until last week, anyone else see it? it is worth watching once it hits redbox?
the only movie of any category I saw was American sniper and big hero 6. both were great. I also downloaded imitation game but haven't watched yet. I imagine grand Budapest hotel could be good. Id also like to see the judge because RDJ never disappoints. siked to find 4 free hours to watch interstellar.
no interest in birdman. cant remember the last time I enjoyed a movie that won best picture. argo as ok and I think hurt locker and slumdown millionaire won but that was at least 5 years ago.
Saw Mad Max: Fury Road this weekend... OH MY GOD, without exaggeration quite possibly the best action movie I've ever seen. 4 stars 2 thumbs any good thing I can say, GO SEE IT
what i dont get by the preview is is it just one big twisted metal black race? they focus entirely on the race in the previews so i have no clue what its about.
It's post apocalypse and nuclear war as ravaged the earth. Gas and Drinkable Water are now precious commodities, a warlord by the name Immortan Joe has a huge reserve of fresh water that grants him immense power. One of his generals Furiosa (Charlize) is sent on a mission to trade tit milk (don't ask) for gasoline. After she departs she changes route suddenly, it's painfully clear to Joe that somethings wrong. He races to his harem to see all his wives are gone, Furiosa is attempting to bring them to freedom. All the while Max Rockastansky (Tom Hardy) has been captured by Immortan Joe's fanatical soldiers and is being used provide blood to them, he escapes teams up with the women, and attempts to outrun Immortan Joe's entire forces to safety.
yeah I heard from another one of my boys that this was really good. I was in the same boat as nick and had no idea what the hell it was about but the previews looked great so I will def check it out at some point.
I cant remember the last time I actually went to a movie, I think it might have been the 3rd batman its been forever!
i've been cutting down, since January I've seen Kingsman, Age of Ultron, and Mad Max... really has to be worth my time to get me to the movies these days
i think mine was gone girl. i have a hard enough time making it thru a movie at home without getting on my phone and losing interest. the theater is rough.
ya that is, however, idk how I feel about them replacing the joker so soon. I was a huge fan of heath's joker that I'm not sure if I'm ready for another one!
I'm not the biggest comic book fan in the world, but didn't batman have other rivals he can fight or do they have to keep doing it with the joker over and over again? what about the penguin, or the riddler, etc, where they at?
saw entourage last night. was as expected. entertaining, funny, lots of boobs and cameos. story sucked but that was always the case with entourage. def worth seeing
every review I've read is "It's season 9 smashed into 2 hours and it's not even a top 3-4 season" That said I'll catch it on HBO when it makes it's way there
saw Jurassic world last night, anyone else see it yet?
before I get into that, I haven't been to a movie in years, I think the batman vs bane movie was the last one, but I forgot how expensive they were to see! allie had 2 free movie passes PLUS a $25 gift certificate and she walked away with $2 left on her card haha. for starters the movie was IMAX 3D, so her passes only covered regular movie tickets so she had to use the gift certificate to cover the difference and then we bought a huge amount of food and by "huge amount" that would equal a SMALL popcorn and a bottle of WATER.
so for 2 tickets, small popcorn and a bottle of water, it would have cost us...ummm or me... close to $50. no wonder why I don't go to the movies anymore!
yeah me and erm saw entourage a few weeks ago. needless to say we smoked our favorite leafy vegetable on the way so needed to get some waters. 2 (large) bottles of water and he got like a pack of fruit snacks came out to $17. those places are making a killing!
exactly. we went to BWW before hand, got 20 wings, fries, 2 giant beers and 2 shots all for $10 less than what the movie should have cost us.
this is exactly the reason why I wait for redbox, $2 and get to chill at home and watch it in blue ray all while smoking the entire time and getting to pause it if I need to take a piss. probably going to be another 2-3 years before I see another movie!
I get very picky about movies I see in the theaters... That said, I thought Jurassic World was awesome, I had a great time watching that movie, I'd say it's worth going to the movies to see.
This year in theaters I saw
Kingsmen
Age of Ultron
Mad Max: Fury Road
Jurassic World
All of which I felt were well worth the excessive amount it costs to go see a movie
i am waiting for kingsmen to come on demand. i checked last weekend but it was only the $20 "buy" option. hoping they put it up to rent for this weekend.
saw mad max over the weekend, thought the action was amazing but the plot was kinda confusing. not confusing as in true detective where I had no idea what was going on, it was obviously mad max and the bald chick were trying to escape from immortal josh, but I wish I read josh's recap on the forum because that pretty much answered all the questions I had. mainly I was wondering:
- what was this bald chick's original mission and why was she so trusted? looks like you answered the first part, but what about the second?
- why were some of people all white and others looked normal?
- what was the deal with mad max being used for his blood?
- what was the deal with silver spray?
- what was that weird white dude saying about being brought back to life stronger or something like that?
interesting. I wish I had known that going in, I thought the movie would have explained that during the plot, but instead it was really just a 2 hour high chase action scene. not that I didn't enjoy it, but my gf had no idea what was going on but at least we were entertained.
I watched adventures 2 on Friday. pretty much what I expected, a lot of action and some funny jokes from tony stark and crew. I liked ultron that guy was pretty bad ass. didn't really get all the other characters at the end and who they were but good movie overall. are they making a 3rd?
Captain America: Civil War (Iron Man and Cap disagree on something and proceed to beat the **** out of each other, Spider-Man appears!)
Doctor Strange (The master of the mystical arts fights a demon trying to take over our universe, starring Benedict Cumberbatch)
Guardians o f the Galaxy 2 (PUMPED)
Spider-Man (thats right! he's a member of the Avengers show now)
Thor: Ragnarok (Thor has to fight Loki after he usurped the throne in secret, Armageddon)
Avengers: Infinity War Part I & II (all the heroes have to team up to beat down on Thanos and his glove that has the ability to bend reality to his whim) Two movies!
I know star wars did their movies where #4-6 were done first and then #1-3 was done about 10 years ago, so for this movie how far after is this supposed to take place for #6? and anyone know more about the plot than what the trailer showed, it looks like a new darth vador is trying to take over the galaxy in honor of him.
30 years after 6... Thats the best part, for the first time in forever the trailers aren't giving you ****!
From what I can be able to gather:
It's been 30 years since the 2nd death star fell on Endor... Since then the Jedi's are still considered a myth at this point, (wheres luke at string!?) and a small band of fanatics to the emperor/Vader have continued on in their dream (a new death star?)... The black guy in the trailer is a soldier in this fanatic army, but, he doesn't actually believe in it.. with his chance in front of him he escapes... and meets that girl and Han Solo/Chewy. From the trailer it seems that he may be a Jedi ( he was using a light saber), as the name of the movie states "The Force Awakens" I take this to mean that the Jedi's will once again take a foothold in the universe.... Also briefly seen is an x-wing pilot who seems to be tortured by Vaders heir, I'm thinking he's going to be a Jedi too, BUT he'll be turned to the dark side and become the bad guy's apprentice.....
ive only seen the original 3 but this one looks pretty dope. what are the chances i gathered everything i needed from 4-6 and dont need to watch the other 3 before this one?
i did watch the last three just didnt watch the first 3 ;)
im really not a star wars fan and dont think i would ever call myself that. the original 3 were classics that i watched a few times as a kid. even those i havent seen in years. when the new ones came around i had no real interest but now that this ones back on the original storyline im all in!
the caliendo thing was great, I love when he does the 30 second per person switch up on random topics like that. I am just waiting on him to do chip Kelly, he already looks kinda like him with that fat neck, all he needs to do is speed talk and say a bunch of sarcastic things and it would be perfect!
I spent my Friday night renting and watching the Pixar movie "inside out," and it might have been the best decision I made all weekend. contrary to what nick says, it was probably the best movie I have seen this year, absolutely loved it. I was obviously very high but I loved the concept and I especially love the creativeness behind it whether it was the "train of thought" or imagination land with the boy friend haha or "dream works production" to even the guys messing up the box of facts I thought the whole thing was great. the ending was even good when they started going into the minds of other things like the dog and then the cat, I lost it there as well. can't recommend the movie enough and nick for you to say "a little sad, not top 10" is crazy to me and I might have to re-think asking you for movie advise if that's what you come back with!
dude u watched a movie ONE TIME then put it over certified classics like Toy Story. THAT is crazy...
i said it was good. the idea was terrific as are all of pixars. but, i cant relate to a 10 year old girl and her feelings while going through puberty. so while the ideas for the lands, memories, trains etc were wonderful, the storyline was very limited especially when compared to things like wreck it ralph where it weaved through entire video game lands, classic arcade machines and the "real world" arcade, or even lego movie where it switches between imagined lego lands and real live people.
i can see allie or danielle enjoying inside out more, but as a 30 y/o man, the whole 10 year old girls feelings storyline was meh. this movie was NOT top 10 in my book.
