madden 25 part 2:

so i downloaded the demo as well, and you get to choose between 4 teams packers/seattle or 49ers/ravens.  as josh explained the biggest difference is the read option and college option plays.  the 49ers playbook has about 8 new formations with the pistol so i thought that was awesome, and as josh said, madden does a good job of labeling the read man on defense and the pitch man if its an option so thats pretty cool.  i think when people start playing the game and practing it, this play will become very dangerous and teams like the 49ers, seattle, redskins, panthers and eagles (once the roster updates when they start off 5-0) will be very fun to use.

with that said, i didnt really notice too many other changes to the game play or graphics.  maybe once the actual game comes out i will notice more things.

madden also released the ratings to the top 5 players of each position on offense.  most things were pretty accurate but here were some surprises/interesting things i saw:

1. matt ryan over joe flacco.  most people realize ryan is better, but everyone also over hypes a super bowl victory for qbs so i was happy to see this.  with that said, ryan was a 94 so im sure flacco is in the 92-93 range.

2. 3 TE's in the top 5 for wr/te's.  that is way too many TE's esp jason witten who was a 96 

3. evan mathis is the top rated linemen in the game!  the eagles had one of the worst offense lines i have ever seen yet some how mathis is the best rated linemen.  i think he had a good year and all but lets be serious, hes not even the best linemen on his side of the line (jason peters) let alone the league.

got myself the new madden!  another year of domination coming up.

i dont know about you guys, but everytime i walk into a gamestop (which is less than 3 times a year) i always get the guy at the counter who i feel like is talking down to me.  he must notice i am clearly not a gamer anymore and wondering why i am in the store. 

so i walked to the counter and asked for the new madden.  first question he asks is if i pre-ordered it.  i said no and he looked at me like i gave him the finger.  he asks what i was thinking by not pre-ordering it and i thought well i havent pre-ordered it in over 5 years n ive never had a problem so i didnt think this would be the year to change things up.  he said he would check if he had any "non pre-ordered games" avaiable and i told thanks but it wouldnt be a big deal deal i could just come back 2mrw or go to the 5 other stores in the 2 mile radius of my work.  miracuslouly, there was "1 more copy" avaiable (please) to us peasants who didnt think ahead enough to preorder a video game and he told me i was in luck.  he then tried to up sale me in to getting the madden guide book.  i said no thanks but apparently that wasnt good enough either and then he said "well i know your gonna get the protective case for an extra $3."  apparently once you open the case its yours but this case protector allows you to return the game or something like that.  since ive never had an issue with opening a game and not destroying it, i thought the extra $3 case wasn't worth it.  again he kinda laughed that i didnt fall for his sales pitch and i walked out the store.

i felt like i just left a car dealership and was pitched 20 different sales.  cant wait to go back in 3 weeks for the new GTA.  i guess i should just pre-order the thing now so i dont face the same wrath from the next guy!

right thats my thinking.  i didnt know if there were some special features for like dvds that made it worth it but i doubt it.

also, does DD even let you play video games in the new crib?  do u even have 2 tvs?

josh did u get the new madden?  if u did i am assuming you got the xbox verison.  well i got the ps3 one and played online and i am not happy so far.  offense is fine but the d is terrible and ridic. to use. this dude had chris johnson run for nearly 300 yards aganist me and I am normally pretty good vs the run, and i had arian foster run for over 200 (yes i won since i know you were wondering).  i dont know if it is the AI for defensive players online or the angles they take but it is not run.  so is it just me or do you think this is something that i just need to get use to?

totally took it old school and stayed up until 3am playing gta5 last night. made it all the way to 13.5% complete after about 8 hours of gamer time

fantasy drafts were the best.  we spent an hour and a half picking our teams and then play 1 maybe 2 games with them and do it all over again the next day haha.

as crazy as it might sound, ive barley played madden much the past few years and while I will def buy this one it might be the last one I get.  I no longer enjoy franchises or playing the computer at all and my online connection has been terrible (plus I have to pay for it with ps4 now) so it might not be worth it for me. 

josh, how is the new madden?  I plan on getting it today so I'm hoping its good!

also: nick is in the hospital so this thing might be slow for a few days.  not sure what happened to him yet but hopefully he's alright

what system you get it for?

got madden last night.  early reviews by me are very positive.  I was really disappointed by last years game esp the one for ps4 which I played for probably 3 hours all year.  HOWEVER, this years game (thus far) has really impressed me.  the fact you have a little more control over the defensive players is something I have enjoyed so far.

I will admit, I have not actually played a game yet, just the training sessions haha.  but the player movement I really like and of course the graphics are the best I have ever seen makes this year very promising.  I will keep you posted once I acutally play a game online.  a few other notes:

-foles is an 88, eli an 81, I wasn't expecting that.

-not sure if the eagles are going to be a good team to use or not.  foles is an 88, McCoy a 97 and the left side of their line is really good but the wr's aren't rated highly at all (maclin was the best at 83) their TE's aren't rated great and their d is terrible.  unless you plan on running the entire game I am not sure if this is a good team to use and especially under rated for a team that is probably going to have a to 2-3 offense this year.

- love the endzone dances I have seen so far.  I saw the "LeBron step up" I saw a ball between the legs move, the Alfred morris home run swing, they look legit.

- josh, have you ever done an online franchise?  I really wish I could get in one but not sure how it works

i agree with nick.  with that said, I'm probably not going to buy the game this year due to beckham being on the cover, never had the dilemma of a division rival being on there SMH.  just kidding, kinda, madden curse anyone?  kidding again, the curse has been dead for a few years now. 

anyway, I'm sure I will end up buying it again but the last 2 years have been the lowest I have EVER played that game since I bought my first one in '95 for sega, esp last year where I didn't play any person in a full game for the first time in my life.  ever since I got ps4 and Playstation started charging people online that was a game changer for me.  i hated playing the computer so the franchise/dynasty mode never really did it for me (esp since i don't have the free time to play a 16 game season and do the in depth offseaon mode) but i always enjoyed playing online a few times per week.  but now i don't know if its worth me paying for it since i rarely have enough free time for video games plus the internet connection in the bmore row homes SUCKS so its really tough to justify paying for it each month.  maybe i'll suck it up in September and do the month to month thing but after 2 years of barley playing it (and it being on a new system) i am nowhere near as good as i use to be so that's probably just gonna piss me off haha.

i will say though, last years game was really good based off the drills/practice games i did haha.  the gameplay was really smooth and the graphics were great, i wish i had a chance to play a few games vs nick where i kicked his ass every time like the good old days!
