EA Sports released their top five running backs, according to overall ratings, for the upcoming NFL Madden 2016 game which is to be released August 25th.
Lynch was supposed to fall off at some point last season but instead you saw him dominating all the way to the Super Bowl. He may not possess the speed to make him dangerous on the longer runs to the outside, but he will almost always plow through defenders for extra yards. Against defenses with inexperienced players and low tackle ratings he is sure to rack up the yards and be a problem in the red zone. Beast mode is real, just be glad this isn't NFL Street when you can add Gamebreaker to him.
After a year off, Peterson is still one of the more dominant players in the game. Though his speed has dropped, he's much like Lynch in that he will be a wrecking ball through defenses and cause so many problems that opponents will need eight in the box to slow him down. The Vikings have young talent on offense to back him up too with Teddy Bridgewater, Cordarrelle Patterson and now the speedy veteran Mike Wallace. This offense could be a lot more to play with in Madden 16.
Bell is an ultimate weapon of sorts when you consider that he's both dangerous on the ground and in the air, and you take into consideration that he will almost never fumble. Even if someone manages to get a clean hit on him with enough hit power, his 99 carry rating significantly lowers the probability that he will let the ball go. This is well-deserved considering in his two years in the NFL he has only fumbled one time. Should he have an even more explosive season than his 2014 year where he had the second most yards on the ground and from scrimmage, his speed numbers could see a drastic increase, which are the only thing you could consider to be a hindrance as a Madden player.
Charles' stats took a down-turn from 2013 to 2014, but he's still a consistent threat and will be the focus of defenses trying to stop him in Madden 16. When the offense lines up you have to account for where the Chiefs have Charles lined up because he's a better option at receiver than most team's backup wideouts. When you add that his 92 speed will outrun most defenders that manage to make it into the backfield, he's even more annoying to stop. There might not be a better player to have coming out of the backfield on a passing play.
Murray is much much like Lynch and Peterson in that he can be a bowling ball of a powerhouse that knocks through defenses and breaks tackles for extra yards consistently. Though people knew how dangerous he would be going into the season, 2014 proved to be his best year and he had the best statistics of running backs by far. Stopping Murray is a matter of throwing a defender in every gap possible and hoping to bring him down as he runs sideways to find a hole or stop him before he even gets started. Otherwise it will take the abilities of a top-tier defender to be a definite stop to his run.
wow, McCoy isn't even a top 5 RB haha. it's gonna be even worse playing with the bills and not having a qb to work with and a lesser o-line, sorry shady!
you gonna get this game? I feel like I have to since I've gotten it every year since like '94 but I played it so little last year.
1. Aaron Rodgers: 99 overall, 95 throw power, 98 play action, 88 throw on the run, 80 throw accuracy deep, 94 throw accuracy short, 92 throw accuracy medium.
Rodgers is arguably the best quarterback you can ask for in a video game (next to 2004Michael Vick). His throw power lets him reach all over the field and his accuracy is as good as you would ever need it to be in order to utilize all the different routes your receivers employ to get open. His mobility also makes him perfect for escaping when the pressure is on.
Brady is still a great asset for a west coast offense and can be the perfect quarterback to practice against. Seriously, put the computer on all-madden, go to practice mode, set the play selection on random and see if you can force him to make a mistake. It can be a serious challenge.
Brees is a great dinker-dunker quarterback on Madden but don't expect to be able to connect on a high percentage of your bombs with his limited throw power. You should at least look for a 92 throw power because taking the top off of a defense is one of the primary threats that can help you keep an opponent honest on each and every play.
4. Ben Roethlisberger: 95 overall, 94 throw power, 87 throw accuracy short, 90 throw accuracy medium, 73 throw accuracy deep, 92 play action, 85 strength, 95 throw on the run.
Roethlisberger's 85 strength is a league high for quarterbacks and comes into play when your opponent manages to get a free blitzer on him. Having a quarterback that can throw off a defender and then find the open target the defense exposed with the blitz can be extremely valuable, especially on thrid down plays when the blitz can be more expected. His ability to throw on the run also comes in handy while under pressure with his league high 95, just don't try to run too far with Ben.
5. Andrew Luck: 94 overall, 95 throw power, 92 play action, 95 throw on the run, 88 throw accuracy short, 89 throw accuracy medium, 75 throw accuracy deep.
As of now, Luck looks like a younger Rodgers in Madden until he can improve his deep ball. His mobility can frustrate defenses and his league high throw on the run stat makes him even more of a mobile threat than Ben with the added speed. If you're looking for a young player to use in franchise as your quarterback, look no further.
For quarterbacks I always find that the most important characteristics are to have really high throw power so that defenses can't focus on the short passes, and respectable throw accuracy stats across the board. So Rodgers is perfect for what I would be looking for, but Ben and Luck are the next step down.

This is the first time since Troy Polamalu's prime that a Steeler has been rated as the top at a primary position. Brown has been a monster for some time in Madden, and looks to be just as nasty in Madden 16. 99 route running means more open opportunities for open spaces and easier passes for Roethlisberger, 99 catch and 98 catch in traffic means he will almost never drop the ball. The only thing to gripe about here is his 90 speed rating; the feats he accomplished this past season show that he should have maintained his 92 speed and not been slowed down. What will be interesting to see is his release rating, determining how good they see Brown is at getting in and out of his breaks which is a major talent of this playmaker. Congratulations AB, you're thre best.
Be sure to watch for fade-city when playing against Cowboys users again in Madden 16. Bryant's size and skills make him like the Randy Moss of old with his ratings and for sure will be abused even more so with the absence of Demarco Murray. I'm sure the first thing many Cowboys fans will be doing is throwing up deep passes against Green Bay saying "DEZ CAUGHT IT!"
Megatron is still a beast who, much like Bryant, who will be the target of 150,484,923,208.2 fade routes from Madden user over the course of the next game. He's a great option as a receivers till and will pull in any slightly off passes from Stafford. If he increases his stats this season back to what they were around 2012, we could see him shoot back up to a 99.
Maybe 94 is a little high for the second year player, but he was spectacular for the games he played in during the 2014 season. His iconic two-fingered catch gives him the right to a high spectacular catch rating and his athleticism could make him a nightmare in the game when you're trying to slow down the Giants offense. If they program crazy catches for Odell to specifically make get ready for reason for people to bring up the "2K WAS BETTER" age-old argument.
Julio is probably the fastest tall receiver left in the game that will receive high marks in all the major ratings at this position. 92 speed allows for him to blaze by most corners and his height mixed with 97 spectacular catch will give him the fade factor like Johnson and Bryant.
94 is way too high for ODB. I don't care how he looked last year, he played in 12 games and they have him the 4th highest WR in the league?
im also surprised dez is ahead of calvin, madden has a quicker memory than twitter. dez also tweeted at EAMADDEN saying "89 speed, you have to be f**king kidding me" haha
SMH, I cant beat either of u online now. nick, Ill bring my ps4 to the wedding and we can play in our hotel room during some down time. oh wait, DD has a schedule for every second of the weekend starting at 12pm Saturday even though the wedding isn't until sunday night . what did I get my self into??!!
so the kid just bought an xbox one on black friday. copped star wars battlefront and black ops 3. both are pretty sick, me and erm were tearing **** up on call of booty last night.
josh i need some more suggestions. i LOVED the origianl metal gear solids and MGS5 is finally out for xbox, plus it gets the highest of ratings on every site so i will be purchasing that (with guide book).
fallout 4, batman arkham knights and tomb raider get some pretty great ratings. im gonna get fifa. what else is out there thats worth buying??
Ohhh snappp you're on the Xbone wagon? Need to add me! Jpoo068
Games I've enjoyed (Im a day one owner remember)
Metal Gear Solid 5
Fallout 4
Star War Battlefront
Watch Dogs
Assassins Creed: Black Flag
Madden 16
Batman: Arkham Knight
Dying Light
Far Cry 4
of those: Far Cry 4, Batman, Fallout 4, and Metal Gear are probably my tops. ...... Dying Light was pretty awesome, ****, so was Assassins Creed though.
1) yeah which is why im enjoying COD3 and have always loved MGS
2) that im not so sure of. a) i want to get thru COD first and then play MGS and b) i tend to get bored of things more quickly than a hundred hours.
ill let you know what i decide. either way we can link up on star wars, madden and any other games we have in common, esp after i sell my xobx 360 for games.
i didn't realize u didn't have the newer system, i assumed u did when you told me you were playing madden 16. with that said, your gonna love madden on it, the game play is great and smooth. i would love to play more but my internet connection isn't the greatest so im not trying to pay for it and get frustrated and oh yeah i have a GF who needs my attention 99% of the time she's awake. since i got my ps4 (2 thanksgivings ago) I've bought 2 games: madden '15 and madden '16, and in those 2 years ive probably played it less than 5 total hours SMH. maybe when i move into my own place ill have some more space to do it but im not counting on it! might be time to turn my gamer card in for good
i dont consider myself much of a gamer but i do like to get deep into a game or two for a few weeks before either beating it (GTA5) or giving up entirely and doing other random fun things (COD/halo)
dude josh fallout 4 is soooo good. i got it for christmas and didnt think i would play for a while cause i was obsessed w MGS5 but once i switched over i cant go back. easily the two best video games ive ever played. realistic, imaginative, overwhelming and incompacing. both are unreal for very different reasons!
I was very close to buying my first non sports vide game since GTA but I couldn't pull the trigger. nick, I need to try out some of these games post stillers W on sat and see what they're like!
ill warn you that either of those two games require a LOT of time. there are cut scenes, stories, side tasks that you have to complete, etc. if you cant spend 20 hours theres no point in even buying since thats where the fluff ends and you finally get into some meaningful missions.
for a game between madden and fallout 4 as far as dedication goes COD Modern Warfare 3 would be good. you can play as much as you want online and the campaign is pretty light. me and erm beat that one together.
any yeaaa, I don't have that kinda free time. when I was younger I use to play those shooter games with my brother so I wish I still had that because I don't think allie is gonna fill that void any time soon haha.
so I got $150 gift certificate from best buy that I need to use by the end of the week. what you guys suggest I get? I'm thinking Fifa and then idk, thoughts??
Hard to describe. You can play it solo, but it's best played with friends. It's all based online, completing missions and the like. Not so much Person v Person death match, more team based special ops. Personally love it
I'm looking for a game like GTA. play it for a few hours (or days), by yourself, beat the game/story and then be done with it. what do you recommend for something like that?
call of duty black ops 3 was good and what you described. i still play metal gear solid 5 because i absolutely love that game, takes a lot of dedication thou. fallout was also great but i switched back to MGSV after about 100 hours. think i was getting close to the end thou because i had to pick a faction (F YOU DAD!).
ive heard of division. my problem is i can only handle one game at a time so if i get a new one i lose touch with the old one. think im gonna try and beat metal gear then choose between starting division or finishing fallout since im so close.
best thing to do is youtube some of the game play. that will give you an idea of what each is about.
1. fallout vs division, which one you think is better?
2. how the F do you have "100 hours" to play video games??? I assume you still work (right?) to say about 6pm, then u still go to the gym right? you also eat dinner? by then it is what 8-9pm? does DD not care if you play video games and she goes into the other room? do you stay up til 2am playing them while she is asleep? or do you just go 6-8 hour gaming sheshs on the weekends and plow through them that way?
please let me know how you do this, I haven't touched my ps4 video game wise since I've moved in with the gf, and the only reason I'm asking about them now is because she is gone on a trip to FL with her girls from Wends-Monday so I'm trying to take advantage of my free time.
im all or nothing. i either stay up late, play all weekend, skip evening activities or dont touch the xbox at all.
i got fallout for xmas and played it for about 5 weeks straight (prolly more now that its april but lets say 5). thats 20 hours a week. I can easily play 4-5 hours on work nights (8-12 or 9-1) plus on a weekend night if i dont go out 6-7 hours is nothing (8-2 or 9-3). that doesnt even count weekend during the day.
danielle never said anything about video games until i got my xbox one and started playing the 3 games i mentioned. i did something similar with GTA5 but that was only for about 2 months of the 3 years we lived together. shes got a ton of shows she watches and is usually in bed doing that by 10.
i dont always play video games, but when i go Im all in.
haha wow, that's def not possible in my place. on days I get home from the gym its already 930ish. by the time I shower/eat/clean up were talking 1030, then I normally watch a show with her til about 12ish and then she starts falling asleep and by then im too tired to start playing video games.
Idk how u pull off doing your own thing from 8-12pm on a week night, I guess either allie is much more attached than DD is or that's the difference from living with a person for 1 month vs 5 years haha.
so I bought the division last night, josh can you tell me what the hell I am doing haha? I feel like a 90 year old trying to start playing this game after playing nothing but sports games since basically college.
I played for about an hour last night, and so far all I've done is run around the city and look for these "side missions," is that what im supposed to do when it first starts? I guess these early missions are to build up my character and show me how to use the buttons, right?
