glad you read it so you had all the facts! yes he will be expensive, but the report is that the owner of under armour, who went to the school and is involved in the football program, is willing to give him part of the company to come. the company who stock is up 1025% since 2008.
he's not leaving philly and MD still has a coach so I'm not sure what you want to discuss. you want to discuss potential secondary coaching positions openings mike tomlin might have to go back to after he gets fired for missing the playoffs 3 out of the past 4 years?
and sure! steelers might be in the market for a new secondary coach depending on how this season plays out. mike tomlin would be scooped up as a HC before he even left the building thou so not sure hes a great fit.
are we sure tomlin is a top notch coach? obv he won a super bowl early on but he did that with a stacked defense which was led by dick lebeau and he has had a top 5 QB his entire coaching career, how many coaches can screw that up? now his D hasn't been good the past few years and with leabeau out isn't he supposed to the one leading the D since that is what his background is? if a coach misses the playoffs 3 out of 4 years with a top 5 QB and a defensive that has struggled when he is supposedly a defensive coach, what exactly is he good for?
sorry, but any coach who is 84-48 is a lock to remain a coach for a long time. hes never had a losing season including the three straight rebuilding years. and dont listen to the media, the steelers are 8th in points against, 12th in total yards and 4th in sacks this season with what was supposed to be a disaster (including the switch to tomlins tampa 2 - so yes he has put his stamp on the D since lebeau left).
i wont make you decide between tomlin and chip kelly but the answer is simple for most people.
you can look at it the other way too... was jim schwartz a bad coach or is stafford that bad? john fox got fired with peyton manning? mike smith with ryan? pagano with luck?
simply inheriting a good QB does not make you a good coach. good coaches make the rest of the team around the QB good and thats not an easy job, especially when the qb has a $100m contract like ben does. if 8-8 is the worst tomlin will do, well id like to keep him around forever.

I'm not sure what point you just made. everyone of these coaches made it far into the playoffs (fox super bowl, smith NFCC, pagano AFCC) until the stopped making it and then got fired. so if tomlin misses it 3 out of 4 years how does this help your argument?

those guys also went 6-10 (smith), 4-12 (schwartz), got embarrassed in the sb (fox) and looked like absolute garbage until matt hasselbeck beat the jags in OT to get to .500... with those qbs. i agree these are good coaches so to your quote above, even these ones can.
tomlin was 12-4 last year and won the division. hes made the playoffs 2 of the past 4 seasons and is 84-48. my point is having a good QB doesnt guarantee your 11-5/12-4 every year like you're making it out to be, so two 8-8 seasons isn't going to get a coach fired.
he's not getting fired, I just didn't appreciate your chip Kelly comments and needed a comeback. but that is mainly due to the Steelers ownership group who hasn't fired a coach since the 60's if they even fired chuck noll (did he retire also?).
I was just wondering if you thought tomlin was a good coach or a product of having very good players and coaches around him. this was actually an interesting radio segment last Friday on the kanell and russilo show after tomlin made some questionable decisions vs the ravens and one of the host said he wasn't sure if he was but ryan clark came on and was heated. very defensive for tomlin and went after a caller who said he only got hired cuz of Rooney rule haha.

my biggest problem with the coaching during the ravens game was that they didn't give scobee one last chance to win the game with the 49 yarder. i understand not kicking it when youre up or tied and there is time left on the clock, but the fact this one was in OT and had he made it literally won us the game, they should have given him one more chance to save his job.
even so, i have no issue with the play called on that 4th down because AB was wide open. mike vick just missed the throw simple as that. should have def run bell on 3rd thou instead of that stupid sweep.
the steelers have 3 former head coaches on their roster. i agree he is surrounded by great coaches. tomlin and keith butler have this defense playing way above expectations. youre not the first person to bring up this point, but like i said the last 2 years were obviously transition years and to go 8-8 is fine by me. im not sure how many coaches would have done better with what tomlin has had to work with especially on defense.
yea I heard that today. already fighting with my dumb ass friends at work who went to MD who think they have a chance to get him. if chip were to go back to college he would go to texas not a 6th place Big 10 school that is known more for basketball.
I completely forgot to talk about the Mich-Mich St. game from Saturday. I was at a wedding so didn't see the ending live, but OMG what an ending. I can't think of a worse possible way a team has lost, the only 2 somewhat relatable endings I can come up with would be a combination of bama/aurburn a few years ago when bama tried that long FG but auburn caught it at the back of the endzone and took it back to the house and the eagles/giants game with deseans walk off punt return. but even both of those games would have went into OT if those final plays didn't happen, this game for Michigan was OVER as long as nothing ridiculously crazy happened, and guess what, something ridiculously crazy happened. sucks for Michigan, they were up the entire game, vs their rival, and this would have put them in the top 10 and gave them a chance at the playoffs. now they're pretty much out of it unless a lot of the top teams lose 1-2 games each.
on top of that, the dude who returned the failed punt for the td broke his hip on the play. you can kind of tell when they started piling on how hurt he was, he was pushing guys off of him and you could tell he was in pain. how bad does that suck for him? he could have came home a hero and gotten laid every night, but now he is in a wheel chair for 3 months and by the time he is healed the season will be over and become just another player haha.
hahahaha. i did watch live that was bat**** crazy. the worst part was if the punter just took a sack the game prolly would have been over other than a hail mary. so the punter and the dude with the broken hip are on opposite sides of the spectrum but neither are getting laid for a while!
Penn State lost kicker Quinn Nordin to Michigan, officially after Jim Harbaugh slept over at the prospect's house ... in Quinn's sister's room. (The sister was not home, Harbaugh clarified.) What does Franklin think of certain coaches' more unique recruiting strategies? "We want to be creative, not creepy," he said
how bout that game!! that dude that hit the crazy 3 for UNC was balling his eyes out after. he was supposed to be the hero then he got his heart torn out of his chest and fed to him haha
yeah that was crazy, esp the final minute where there were at least 3 huge 3's made. what an ending between 2 even matched teams and both teams deserved it. it was a crazy year for college but both these teams were ranked #1 for a good part of the season so its always good to see that rather than a random team get hot for a month and win it all
studs! I was first gonna ask if that was tigerfest but since that pic just popped up today and it is September I am assuming that was from homecoming. not sure why a moon bounce would be there but I am sure I was drunk and enjoyed it!
now that I think about it, thanks nick, now I am depressed that back in the day I was day drinking with my boys and jumping on moon bounces and today I am stuck in the office for another 4 hours waiting for the weekend to come so I can go to bed early and enjoy a good night sleep...
