eagles lack of leadership was a huge issue the past 2 years as well which is why they let so many guys go after signing them 2 years ago (nnamdi, babin, jenkins, drc, vince young, ronnie brown, etc)

i think comparing leaders is very dumb, but its a fact nfl teams need good leaders to be a good team which y u see teams like the pats, ravens always winning and steelers and eagles in their good days all had strong leaders and put up results.  now that the eagles n steelers lost a lot of those players their teams are struggling.  luckily eagles have a new coaching staff and a new era, too bad the steelers are stuck in .500 land.

Team needs: Pittsburgh Steelers

BettisGetty Images

The Steelers need something that few draft picks ever immediately give any team: leadership. The only way to fix that moving forward is to find players who are likely to become leaders in the future. Of course, there may not be a future for the people picking the players if the team doesn’t improve before this year’s rookies become some future year’s leaders. So here are the areas where the Steelers need to focus in order to buy time for this year’s incoming players to eventually become leaders.

your just mad cuz i called it at the beggining of last year that the steelers would struggle when they lost their leadership and then it became true and they went 8-8 so this is your way of making fun of the situation.

not every thing is black or white, or in ur case 0 or 60.  but it played a role.  some teams can control it and some cant.  just like injuries, some teams can handle them (giants when the won the super bowl is an example) and some teams goes 4-12.  there is no formula that calucalates wins per leadership but im sorry u dont understand how football or team sports work if you dont think leadership plays a major role.

uh oh...

Overrated

Dion Jordan, DE/OLB, Oregon

Jordan, who keeps showing up as a top-five pick in every mock draft I see, finished third in tackles for loss in 2012. Third in the nation? No. There wasn't a No. 3 because South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney (the likely No. 1 pick in the 2014 draft) and Arizona State defensive tackle Will Sutton tied for second with 23.5. Third in the Pac-12? Nope. That was UCLA linebacker Anthony Barr. Jordan finished No. 3 in tackles for loss on his own team with 10.5 (five sacks). And he might go second or third overall?

I get that Jordan's size (6-foot-6, 248 pounds) means he can play defensive end in a 4-3 or outside linebacker in a 3-4, but the idea that a 3-4 team needing a disruptive rusher would take Jordan over Georgia outside linebacker Jarvis Jones -- No. 1 in the nation with 24.5 tackles for loss even though he missed one game with an injury -- is absolutely dumbfounding. At least Jones will go elsewhere in the first round. Stanford's Thomas (6-4, 248) will go three to four rounds after Jordan, and all Thomas did -- playing against the same offensive lines as Jordan -- was get in the backfield more often (14.5 TFL, 7.5 sacks).

Sounds like a standard draft week story leak to drive down value so a lower team hopes to get him to me.

na, its just 1 man's opinion, there are no quotes from unnamed sources in here.  he makes some good points tho, how is a top 5 pick only 3rd on his team in tackles for loss?  i've always been higher on jarvis jones and dont understand how he is not a top 10 pick so i guess we'll see.

because 40 times mean more than production.

just kidding, of course, but even mcshay, kiper and mayock dont know ****. jones very well could be drafted ahead of jordan. remember bruce irvin at this time last year? yeah me neither

that is true.  but this year has been even more crazy than previous years where picks from #2 on are this uncertain.  last year everyone knew the top 5 in some order but other than jockel nobody knows where any1 is going.

speaking of the draft, tonight has a 30 for 30 about the 1983 draft that im sure is going to be very interesting

so this is prolly not as funny without watching but i was watching NFL networks mock draft last night where mayock was the moderator and they had nfln analysists picking all the players. they went around the table and an analyst picked a player for the next team in the order. so, each person picked one player and they moved on.

heres the list of analysts:

mike mayock
charles davis
brian billick
steve mariucci
rich eisen
michael irvin
dave damasheck
daniel jarameah

and last and totally least... melissa stark

600x382

now, we got some pretty great insight from ex-coaches and players like brian billick and steve mariucci. but poor melissa stark was way in over her head. with statments like "I didnt expect this situation" when picking for the eagles at #4 and the expected players still on the board, "since he was your #2 ranked player mike," and "the dolphins lost a cb named sean smith so well take xavier rhodes as the first CB off the board". this is when the other analysts turned from helpful to downright FRYING her hahahaha.

its all right here, its a really good watch and watching the only chick in the room with absolutely no football knowledge is hysterical.

big day today bros, the one we have been waiting for for months and this is the best day of football action until september.  im very excited to see the eagles trade down or draft some linemen and pretend i know all about him.  this is the most unpredictable draft in years and after seeing mayocks mock yesterday im not even sure who pick #1 is going to be.  im also exicted for one of u 2 to eat your hats.  please remember both of you said you would eat your hat if a certain thing occured and they were:

josh: giants draft a TE in round 1

nick: if marcus lattimore goes in the 3rd rounder or earlier.

hope you guys both picked out a good and tasty one!

i would be thrilled if i were u n the steelers got jarvis jones.  he was a beast in college and the way the steelers use to transform LB's in pro bowlers i think he would be a monster there.  i dont know what im missing but he should be a top 10 pick and hes gonna be good. with old dick L running the d for at least a few more years thats a perfect match for him.

im also interested to see where these non 1st rounders go:

-honey badger

-lattimore

-kenjon barner

-barrett jones (eagles have his old Oline coach and he was an All American at like 3 positions in college)

Final top 5 wish list:

1)DJ Fluker (not gonna happen he'll be long gone)
2)Desmond Trufant
3)Tank Carradine
4)Kenny Vaccaro
5)Datone Jones

I have no fear of the Giants taking a TE whatsoever.

According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, West Virginia WR Tavon Austin is the No. 1 overall player on the Bills' draft board.

That screams, PLEASE TRADE UP AND TAKE OUR PICK, PLEASEEEEEE

The most important non-game gameday in sports is upon us. The eyes of the NFL will be on Radio City Music Hall tomorrow night as the annual educated-guessing game known as the draft takes place. And continuing in the proud tradition of Jets fans getting wasted and lustily booing selections, we’re presenting you with this drinking game. Just follow along and you’ll be feeling as weird as Brady Quinn in a green room.

One drink for any:

  • Use of the word “upside”
  • Use of the word “potential”
  • Time a commentator suggests picking for value not need
  • Non-skilled position player drafted – you’re going to get a nice early buzz
  • Comparison of a drafted player to a player already in the league
  • Trade
  • Mention of last year’s quarterback class
  • Time a team makes a pick in under three minutes

Two drinks for any:

  • Reference to a player’s performance at the combine
  • Audible cry from a drunk in the balcony
  • Time character issues are mentioned
  • Non-FBS is player drafted
  • SEC player taken in the 1st round
  • Commercial break
  • Skill position player taken
  • Time a media member tweets the pick before it’s announced

Three drinks for any:

  • Mention of a player’s “closing speed”
  • Discussing of a quarterback’s offensive system
  • Street slang from Stuart Scott
  • Suit that isn’t black, brown or blue
  • You recognize a player selected after the fifth round

Four drinks for any:

  • Claim that a player is a “coach on the field”
  • Soon-to-be dumped WAG at draftee’s side
  • Time an offensive or defensive end is referred to as a “bookend”
  • Time a team does not get their pick in on time

Five drinks for any:

  • Time Mel Kiper’s hair is out of place
  • Ivy League player selected
