i'm pretty sure you are the one who is not understanding. the pats can offer him any contract they want. so if they want to offer him a 3 year 12 mil dollar deal, the steelers can either match that or not. if they dont and cant afford it then they get a 3rd rounder in return.
the only time the 1.3 contract comes into play is if no other team offers him a deal, eman can sign with the steelers for 1 year at 1.3mil.
are you drunk? they have the tender on him now for 1.3 mill. if the pats want to give up a 3rd rounder they can offer whatever they want and the steelers would have to match or get a 3rd rounder in return.
you dont understand how RFA works? oh yea i forget the iggles only sign over priced UFAs!
what about that doesnt say exactly what you posted? I dont want the pats to make him an offer because it will be bigger than the 1.3 they get him for if he doesnt sign with the pats and i would rather have eman than a 3rd round pick.
who would have thought we would see ed reed, james harrison, osi umenyora, brian urlacher, john abraham and dwight freeney sitting on the FA market at the same time with no interest? father time is a biotch
hahaha wow! the football editors at espn have to be sitting around and just going, what the hell can we make up today that will get clicks? hmmm POWER RANKINGS. anyone above 12 years old who enjoys these or takes them serious is an idiot

Rams have flexibility with two first-round picks after adding Jake Long. (Sando)
The Giants have lost significant pieces from their Super Bowl team and won only nine regular-season games in 2011, but they are the defending champs. They will be the team to beat. (Fox)

Patriots 13-3
Adding deep-threat receiver Brandon Lloyd could give the Patriots the NFL's most versatile passing attack. (Walker)

Titans 9-7
Added one veteran to both lines, but still need more help. (Kuharsky)
17
Chiefs 7-9
Getting healthy will make a big difference for the Chiefs, who are under new leadership with Romeo Crennel. But is that enough to make up ground in the AFC West? (Kuharsky)
18
Panthers 6-10
Can Cam Newton shatter expectations for a second season in a row? (Sando)
19
Bengals 9-7
The Bengals haven't had back-to-back winning seasons in 30 years. But young guns Andy Dalton and A.J. Green aim to end the streak. (Walker)

THey literally stated for the Redskins... "Well the defense will still kinda blows and RG3 might not even play... so lets rank them ahead of the Giants/Steelers/Cowboys for no apparent reason."
John Mara on the Redskins cap violation penalties....
“That was an issue that was negotiated between the league office and the players’ association,” Mara said Tuesday evening after the league’s annual meetings adjourned for the day. “I was not present in any of those sessions, nor did I have anything to do with it. But if they want to continue to make me the villain, so be it.”
well considering he crawled back to the steelers with his tail between his legs its not looking good for him. he was due 6 mill, steelers offered him a 30% paycut which equals about 4 mill. no way hes getting that anywhere else. like i said- harrison, urlacher, freeney, abraham, woodson, osi its crazy how lilttle ppl want to pay vets.
with the strapped cap coaches are realizing young talent is cheaper and sometimes better. its only gonna get worse too and the caps not going up much in the near future.
Urlacher is way over the hill, I wouldn't give him ****.
Freeney has one or two years left in him. I wouldn't sign him for any longer than that.
Abraham is going to fall apart any day, he's just so old.
Harrison is a mental case
Woodson should get a job, I can't believe no ones signed him yet. He's a very solid cover safety now.
Osi is on the wrong side of thirty, awful against the run, and is known for wanting too much money.
There's problems on both the teams and players side. Some of the teams need to break open the check book, and some players need to realize where they're at in their careers.
teams are finally smartening up and not paying these older guys big money because older guys tend to get hurt and teams can just draft rookies or sign guy who were on the practice squad who as 90% as good but for half the money. most of these guys had no choice either because they got cut or because their contract was up, but someone like harrison is an idiot and really over valued his market value.
with a lot of these veterans we are at the point where teams are going to wait until the draft to fill needs and players/agents are gonna wait to see what teams didnt draft a player at their postion and still have a need before signing a contract. it makes no sense to sign a deal now a month before the draft when they can wait it out and maybe get a decent 1 year contract with a team who didnt get the guy they wanted in the draft.
Not much going on, but I found out the Giants will be wearing alternate/throwback jersey's this year.... except it's only that they'll be wearing white pants instead of grey... wooooooo! But it got me thinking... what are my favorite alternate jersey's (in all of sports)... here's my top 5
i wouldnt be surprised at all if nnamdi did well with them. he finally has some coaches who know what to do with him and how to use him (press man to man). it just makes no sense for a player to go from the 2nd best player at his position to a bum in 1-2 years without injury.
Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham hasn’t necessarily been told he’s playing outside linebacker, but he’s certainly preparing that way.
Graham said, via Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer, that he hadn’t been told what position he’d play in the Eagles’ new 3-4 system.
But it’s easy to see where he’s leaning. He’s working to get from 270 pound down to 260, and he’s been working with Steelers outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley on his technique
