The Ravens are in big trouble, and it's all Flacco's fault.

At some point you need to weigh getting a ridiculously fat pay day and still leaving your team room to maneuver.

Direct results of Flacco's contract:

The loss of:

Ed Reed

Bernard Pollard

Dannell Ellerbee

Paul Kruger

Anquan Boldin

You can't lose that many offensive starters and still expect to be the same D. None the less when you replace these studs with the likes of; Daryl Smith, James Ihedigbo, Josh Bynes its a recipe for disaster on both sides of the ball.

They went for broke assuming that Pitta was enough to get them by offensively. They are in big big trouble this year.

i thoroughly enjoyed the game last night. their offense is in big trouble if dallas clark is gonna be their #2 pass catcher. also, jimmy smith is god awful and has to be one of the dumbest players in the league -- and thats saying something. that game could have been MUCH worse if a) welker didnt fumble on the 3 giving them a freeby and 2) dude would have carried the ball into the endzone on the almost pick 6.

those losses were huge and might be too much to overcome. its not like theyre inexperienced and can improve, some of the guys they brought in just arent very good. the steelers appreciate the blueprint for stomping the ratbirds that the broncos provided last night.

peyton is pretty much amazing. not sure why i shyed away from that offense in fantasy, id take any part of it i could get now.

The giants game was a visual heart attack.

Positives:

1)The D played 76 snaps on the first game of the year, and still only let up 22 total points (2 defensive TDs). The time of position was almost double that for Dallas' offense.

2)The 3 headed monster at WR is going to be scary.

3)I didn't hear Pugh's name once except for collinsworth to praise him, good stuff.

4)Aaron Ross, except for the PI against Dez he did a fantastic job.

5)Ryan Mundy, seemed to be everywhere last night

Negatives:

1)David Wilson.

2)Will Beatty/DWare battle.

3)Eli's first play pick.

4)David Wilson.

5)Kevin Gilbride play calling. Using a 4th string RB ( he was going to be cut had Andre Brown not gotten hurt) and deciding it was a good idea to give him A LOT of touches. Awful.

6)Brandon Myers pass blocking.

7)David Wilson (All jokes aside, he simply just needs more coaching. Once he learns pass blocking and Coughlin gets him to stop fumbling he'll be very very good, till then he's just a very raw RB)

Like I said, I must be getting old. But the way he acted the first game was ridiculas. He's an entitled douchebag. Geno acted like it was the end of the world when he wasn't drafted in the first round and standing on the bench like Jesus after his biggest play of the game was a late hit out of fb range also was ridiculas

not a geno fan, but i love manziel.  i think he gets unfairly critized a lot so this is how he acts in return.  he'll learn eventually.

but do you know who i am a fan of...CHIP KELLY!  i couldnt be more happy with how the team looked so early in the season.  1st time i enjoyed watching eagles football in about a year (literally since week 2 last year vs the ravens).  offense is fun and even the defense actually made plays.

the line dominated but what makes this team scary is how many options it has on any given play.  ESPN and Jon Gruden did a great job showing how they have as many as 5 options on one given play so when a defense is tired and has 10-15 seconds to dissect a brand new formation that has 5 different options its no wonder why these holes were huge and everyone was running wide open.  the 1st half should have been worse, i havent seen a team get dominated that badly in 1 half since i use to smoke nick in madden back at riverside.

my only concern is vick gets hit a lot more than most qbs since he doesnt know how to slide (he literally doesnt know) and is always one shoulder hit from a saftey to the midsection away getting a broken rib and being injured for a few weeks like every single season in the past.

mccoy also getting 30+ carries isnt gonna last, but so far so good.  so nick, AB over djax still?  what about heath miller?

jesus, PFT has the eagles at #5 in their power rankings:

1. Broncos (1-0): The Manning family dreads games played between Peyton and Eli. Peyton shouldn’t; he’s 2-0 against his little brother.

2. 49ers (1-0): Jim Harbaugh’s rope-a-dope worked on the Packers. It will be a little harder to pull it off against the Seahawks.

3. Texans (1-0): Good teams become great teams when they find a way to overcome major deficits away from home.

4. Seahawks (1-0): Winning on the road during the regular season could be the key to playing more games at home in the postseason.

5. Eagles (1-0): Here’s a shock — the high-gear, full-time, no-huddle offense can build a lead, and it has trouble holding a lead.

waayyyy to high right now

whoa and at the bottom 5....

28. Jets (1-0): Someone should register the trademark for “We won’t be 0-16!”

29. Steelers (0-1): Someone should register the trademark for “B-b-but we still have six rings!”

30. Buccaneers (0-1): Lavonte David’s gaffe cost the team a win; the absence of a competent offense cost the team an easy win.

31. Browns (0-1): The management can change, but the output at the Factory of Sadness remains the same.

32. Jaguars (0-1): Even Tim Tebow could have led this offense to zero points.

did you guys notice what a hot new trend in as for as NFL sports writing goes?  ppl aren't using the term "redskins" when they write an article.  i know nobody on themmqb.com does or bill barnwell on grantland, and thats just off the people I normally read.

do u think redskins will be gone in 5 years?

this is a good article on breaking down the eagles offense and "package plays" which is probably the new future of NFL offenses.  no nick it is not a "gimmick" and maybe you should forward this article to todd hailey as well.

direct text from Nick Lamarca Monday 9/9 at 8pm:

"I like the offense"

"But I would never tell you I do."

aside from the direct contradiction i just posted, in case you havent noticed since you pretend the NFL is not happening every time the steelers suck, the eagles offense is kind of the talk of the league right now.  i just find it very interesting about all these new plays and how the up tempo offense and package plays is going to take over the nfl along with the read option.  maybe you should read an article or 2 about it so next time a flat pass gets batted down you dont get confused and come back with "that's what that gimmick bs gets you."

ill break it down in more simple terms:

gimmick = special set a plays you only run once in awhile

example: wildcat, double reverse pass that the steelers did a lot with ward or randle el

chip kellys offense = style of play

example: read option, package plays.  pistole (49ers, seattle, redskins). not a gimmick

SMH is this guy the next danny watkins aka 1st round guard bust?  cant even block the other team correctly and now is knocking his teammate out of for the season!

Pouncey lasted less than four minutes into the season before his knee was blown out by Steelers guard David DeCastro, who acknowledged in an interview with The Fan in Pittsburgh that he’s the one who took Pouncey out at the knee in the middle of the line. DeCastro said he was trying to cut block Titans defensive tackle Sammie Hill but missed his mark and instead nailed his own teammate.

It also seems that my thought that the Eagles D looking incredible last week was indeed a product of the Redskins offense just being downright pitiful through the first 3 quarters

too much to take away from this week

chip kellys offense is great but hes putting his defense in a really tough spot. this isnt college where theyre gonna score 50 points a game, he needs to keep the defense in mind too. also, terrible clock management at the end of the game when ur already in FG range

titans may just be better than they were given credit for after beating the steelers then taking the texans to OT

baltimore trailing all game to the browns then squeeking it out... yeah ravens fans tell me again how losing all those key pieces didnt hurt SMMFH

buffalo pulling out the last second win was fun to watch

rodgers made it look toooooo easy. skins D could be fighting for worst in the NFL. i also had a good time giving my redskin fan friends an earful all day

MIA 2-0... are they forreal?

I think the Chiefs at 2-0 are def for real

its obvious freeman hates scheiano and gholston hates them both and the bucs find another odd way to lose the game

peyton manning will be unstoppable this season. you better find a way to outscore him because hes not slowing down

what an impressive game by the shehawks. their defense is everywhereeeeeee. sherman has quickly become one of my favorite players and I think he is challanging patrick peterson as best in the leauge. they also were missing browner, clemmons and bruce irvin. crazy that theyre only gonna get better here soon

steelers 24-10

Exhibit A) 6 turnovers in game 1 and they still only lost by a TD

Exhibit B) The defense is actually playing really well

Exhibit C)Coughlin will eventually realize that Wilson needs carries and Scott & Jacobs wont cut it.

Exhibit D)Eli won't be throwing 3+ picks ever game

Exhibit E) Baas JUST came back last game and he still isn't 100% so the O-Line will get better

Exhibit F)JPP still isn't 100% and the defense has been good, get him healthy and it'll get even better.

Exhibit G) 2007 NY Giants start the season 0-2 losing to the Cowboys and Packers people are calling for 1)Eli's benching, 2) Coughlins head, 3)The total rebuilding process of this team. They go on to deny 19-0, it's a long season.

really?  i would say at least a 6.  yes it is still early but at the same time only 12% of teams who start 0-2 make the playoffs and there has not been 1 encuraging sign for the steelers to turn it around.  the run game is awful and the wr's are average at best.  luckily i dont think the division is very good this year, even the bengals dont look great, so obviously they are still in it cuz i think 9-7 can take it, i just wouldnt call it a 0.

giants i would be less concerned, u would think the turnover battle will eventually even out but i thought the same thing with the eagles last year and it never did.  giants are more 0-2 cuz of their schedule.  however, their next 4 games are vs the panthers, kc, eagles and bears.  if they go any less than 2-2 then they're in trobule.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Antonio Brown "confronted" OC Todd Haley during Monday night's loss to the Bengals and "angrily complained" he wasn't getting the ball enough.
It's amazing the incident wasn't caught on tape. Brown saw nine targets in the game, but just three in the first half. Meanwhile, Emmanuel Sanders got five first-half targets and 10 total, while brutally ineffective No. 3 receiver Jerricho Cotchery finished with nine targets. Per the Post-Gazette, Brown and Haley were both still "seething" about the incident on Tuesday. We've seen the squeaky wheel get greased plenty of times before, so this can't be a bad thing for fantasy owners. If the Steelers offense is going to get out of the mud, Brown will have to be a big part of it. He has a meager 11/128/0 line through two games.

not a big manziel fan. i think he still goes in the first thou

also, just realized that the browns traded forth, fifth and seventh round picks to move up in the 2012 draft to take richardson. this is ridiculas they gave up a top 3, forth, fifth and seventh round picks just to move DOWN ~15 spots in next years draft

How I view the Browns GM office....

"You know, Mr. Lombardi. The fans are getting pretty mad at Brandon Weeden. Maybe we should make a change."

"Say no more, I know just what to do!"

"We're gonna shop for a QB?"

"Exactly."

"What are we gonna offer? How high of a price are we willing to go?"

"What if we offer someone two first round draft picks for their high profile QB?"

"I mean, I guess somebody would take that. The Rams got quite a few picks back when Washington traded to draft RG3."

"Exactly! We can get a QB like RG3!"

"But which picks are we going to give up? This year and next year?"

"We can give up both our first round picks from this year."

"But Mr. Lombardi, we only have one first round pick this year."

"Not anymore!"

"Wait...what do you mean?"

"We got another one from the Colts."

"But...how? When?"

"When we traded them Trent Richardson!"

"We...we traded...what? WHO?! WHEN!?!"

"Just now. While we were talking."

"WHY WOULD WE DO THAT?!"

"To get a new QB. Try to keep up."

"BUT TRENT RICHARDSON?! OUR STARTING RUNNING BACK, TRENT RICHARDSON?! THE BEST PLAYER ON OUR OFFENSE, TRENT RICHARDSON?!"

"Sacrifices have to be made. And, while I'm on that subject...I'm sorry, Mr. Farmer. You know too much."

RIP Ray Farmer (7/1/74-9/18/13)  (Browns assistant GM)
