I really don't get it. T-Rich was cheap and under contract for 3.5 more years. The first rounder they got from the colts is most likely going to be in the upper 20's.
right. they traded a #3 pick for a twenty-something pick. i get their thought process, they want to make sure they can move up if they need to to get a QB (no way they target clowney after getting mingo and their defense being dominant compared to their offense) but there are better ways to do it. they may have the #1 overall pick anyways. plus they just dradfted weeden last year.
they say lombardi is a bad GM and i agree. but theres no excuse for a team being so bad for so long. this has to be the tenth time they have "rebuilt" and they have nothing to show for it.
Browns QBs since 1999 (when they were reestablished):
Brandon Weeden, Thaddeus Lewis, Colt McCoy, Seneca Wallace, Jake Delhomme, Brady Quinn, Derek Anderson, Ken Dorsey, Bruce Gradkowski, Charlie Frye, Trent Dilfer, Jeff Garcia, Kelly Holcomb, Luke McCown, Tim Couch, Doug Pederson, Spergon Wynn, Ty Detmer.
Thats 18 starting QBs in 13 years. with the exception of the year they tanked for luck, the Colts had TWO starting Qbs during that time.
not a big manziel fan. i think he still goes in the first thou
also, just realized that the browns traded forth, fifth and seventh round picks to move up in the 2012 draft to take richardson. this is ridiculas they gave up a top 3, forth, fifth and seventh round picks just to move DOWN ~15 spots in next years draft
or 4 turnovers, doesnt matter what offense you play in if you turn over the ball that much you're not winning. even with that they still were close the whole game which is amazing.
defense looked good but not sure if it was cuz they are actually playing well or if it was because it was a thursday night game and offenses rarley look good on these sloppy thursday night games.
You thought the defense looked good letting up 144 yards to DONNIE AVERY and over 150 yards to Jamaal Charles? What game were you watching? Everything about that game was downright ugly, especially on both sides of the Eagles.
the chiefs didnt score an offensive td until 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter, normally that would be a pretty good sign. yes avery had a few big catches but what were u expecting everyone to get shut out? did the cheifs d play bad cuz mccoy had over 150? the eagles also had 5 sacks and were put in a bad situation time after time with all these turnovers and they werent the problem. trust me, after watching phillip rivers throw for 400 yards and go 12/13 on 3rd down ill take this as a huge improvment.
Yes you stopped the guy who refuses to throw farther than 7 yards down the field from throwing TDs and beat up on a rookie RT who played at a bull**** division school which led to sacks. The Chiefs D played exceptionally well, The Eagles D survived.
u make some decent points. you would know good d considering your favorite team is currently giving up only 38.5 points per game currently in 1st place. no wait its bad for a d to give up that many points, i meant LAST place.
regardless, while i am not happy with the results, this was a 4-12 team last year with a complelty new coaching staff and a compleltly new defense which just played its 3rd game in 11 days, i wasn't expecting a super bowl contender. at worst they are a half game back in the division after this weekend (only if dallas wins) so lets see how they look come midseason b4 we call this season a failure or claim this offense wont ever work.
With all this talk about T-Rich I decided to take a look at each teams STARTING RB, where they were drafted and their general success.

My findings:
Of the 15 1st round RB starters I feel only 8 have lived up to the value the 7 that haven't/haven't yet ; David Wilson (too early), Mark Ingram, DeAngelo Williams, Rashard Mendenhall, Reggie Bush, Knowshon Moreno, Darren McFadden
Of the 6 2nd round RB starters I feel 4 out of the 6 have surpassed their value, while the other 2 are too early to call. (Lacy/Bell being the too early)
Of the 4 3rd round RB starters I feel that all 4 have way surpassed their draft value.
Of the 1 4th round starter it's too early to judge
Of the 1 6th round starter it seems like he is an absolute GEM
of the 2 7th round starters one has turned out to be a very nice back, but most likely in a complimentary role (Richardson) whereas the other is a 3rd string back being replaced by ancient Willis McGahee
Of the 3 UDFA starters all have carved out a nice career for what was expected of them.
Conclusion; RB's are a crapshoot, don't waste a 1st rounder on them, take stabs in rounds 2-7 and see what you come up with.
so after coming up with this conclusions, do you think the colts got good value for giving up their 1st round pick (most likley in the 20's) for trich?
Yet to be seen, T-Rich to this point has been very mediocre. He's averaging less than 4 YPC and thats with facing some of the fewest 8-Man fronts (it's true look it up). There is the theory of course that simply being in Cleveland destroys any talent within you. So it'll have to be seen, at this point I'm saying it'll probably be good for the Colts, they're not too far away from the Super Bowl at this point already, one first round pick isn't going to change that either.
I'll officially change my worry-o-meter to a 7/10 now.
The Giants look lost and frankly uninterested in football.
Gilbride doesn't know how to make adjustments during the game. Oh we're being killed by the pass rush? Lets continue to do 3 step drop backs and 20 yard out patterns. Give me a ****ing break snap the ball have Nicks run the slant and get 8 yards a pop, why is this so difficult to understand? They were playing their front 7 forward and their DBs deep, gee I wonder what type of plays we should call! Opening drive of the second half; 1st down: inc pass, 2nd down: run for 0 yards, 3rd down: inc pass. Get it together FFS. Also, can someone tell me why Gilbride is running Wilson between the tackles but Jacobs on sweeps? Is this opposite day? JESUS H!
In my mind coughlin should be allowed to retire when he wants to. But Im not on the fire coughlin train, but it seems like it might be getting time for someone else to come in and motivate these guys differently. It's like Andy Reid last year, it's just time for a change.
Perry Fewell is a sack of **** too. The defense is predicated on the front 4 causing havoc to mask our secondary inefficiencies. Except our front 4 can't get a push to save their lives. One would think you'd add a blitzer or two to help out, NOPE. Not Fewell!
“I believe the safest pick in the draft—beyond Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III—is Alabama running back Trent Richardson. He’s a blue-chip player and has all the skills to quickly establish himself as a top-five player at his position. Forget the nonsense about not taking backs early—everyone would love the chance to get this guy.”
—Mike Lombardi, current Cleveland GM and former NFL.com columnist and NFL Network analyst, writing on NFL.com on April 23, 2012, three days before Richardson was picked third overall in the draft by the Browns.
Ravens KR Jacoby Jones reportedly suffered head injuries in a brawl aboard a party bus when a stripper struck him with a bottle late Sunday.
The bus was reportedly filled with Ravens players and at least one stripper named "Sweet Pea," who struck Jones with a "gigantic" Ace of Spades bottle. Jones was reportedly "bleeding everywhere," and an ambulance was called, though he did not have to be hospitalized. Notorious partier Bryant McKinnie was aboard the bus, but tried to break up the brawl. No arrests were made because "no one cooperated with cops." Jones is out indefinitely with a sprained MCL.
wow, its one thing for us nobodys to be showing up to work a little tipys but an NFL athelte? how the hell was he going to even practice like this?
Smith, the team’s star pass-rushing linebacker, was found in his sport truck Friday morning at 7 a.m. about a half-hour from the Niners’ facility in Santa Clara, Calif., the truck up against a tree in a yard. When the police arrived, he blew a .15 on the breathalyzer test, almost double the legal limit in California. Keep in mind, he was supposed to be at the team facility for meetings and practice within the hour, and he obviously would have been in no condition to be there.

steelers would not draft clowney. at least i dont want them to anymore
-they have woodley signed for 4 more years -they drafted jones last year -their line is the weakest part of the team -more than anything -- is clowney even worthy of a top-5 pick anymore? he hasnt done anything this seaon (SC almost lost to UCF on saturday).
steelers dont need an OLB and clowney is no longer the best player in the draft. he is far far farrrrrrr from the safest. LTs on the otherhand are harder to get and always safer. id put the steelers drafting him at around 10%
