so eddie got neutered today SMH.  rough day as nobody is looking forward to this and what makes it even better is all the hidden charges my vet likes to throw in there after the fact!  on his initial checkup the vet told me if his 2nd ball didn't drop they would have to do another cut which would cost about $80.  obviously there wasn't much I could do about that, and then when allie dropped him off they told her his 2nd ball never dropped so they had to do the extra cut.  so this would be $80 right? WRONG.  somehow it is now $230 and I am still waiting for a call back for why this tripled in price since the last time we talked about this.

also, allie asked for them to clip his nails while he was passed out since he is next to impossible to keep still when we try to do it.  easy enough to clip 10 nails while a dog is passed out you would think right?  well apparently it costs $15 to do!  how long could this have possibly of taken, 10-15 second?  ridiculous and I am really looking to this phone call to see why the vet thinks its ok to charge $15 to do 10 seconds of work on a passed out dog.

one nice thing about adopting (at least from where we got porter) is all the dogs are nutered before we get them. makes that part easy. funny that that eddies balls havent dropped yet haha

ive got a pretty good story that i might have already told you. i passed out on the couch after getting back from the steelers bar one afternoon. danielle was in the bedroom. i woke up to the dogs (we have 2, porter and tory) playing with something in the dining room but didnt think much of it. a few minutes later they were still going at it so i thought something might be up. i checked on them only to find they were chewing on a pack of AA batteries porter got off the table. one of the bateries was punctured and some black battery acid chalk was on the floor. of course we freaked out and called animal posion control. it was a required $65 donation for them to help smh. they told us it was def bad and we should take them to the vet within in the next 12 hours or so.

there were 2 problems -- it was nearly 10PM on sunday so vets were closed and 2 we didnt know which dog actually bit the battery. so we figured wed wait until one of them started showing signs so we werent paying for 2 dogs at the vet. well, the next day comes and they still seems fine in the morning so i go to work and tell dd to keep an eye on them. i check in thruout the day and she says they both seem normal. well i get home from work around 7 and find porter quivering in his create drooling all over himself haha. guess we found who ate the battery.

he was obviously in pain so we rushed him to the animal hospital (vet was yet again closed at this time). they took and him and fixed him up for a cool $257. man, these dogs are like children sometimes. good thing we love them enough to deal with this kind of foolery.

haha that's funny.  eddie has been pretty good about not getting into something hes not supposed to or tearing up the house.  he was actually really good about not peeing in the house and I barley crate him anymore when i go to work but since he's gotten neutered he's peed twice inside so im hoping he doesn't go back to his bad habits.

nick, what was DD's IG post all about the other day?  are you guys giving up the 2nd dog soon?

yeah we foster dogs until they find a perminant home. we were only supposed to foster porter but fell in love with him and decided to adopt him. tory we are actually gonna place when she finds a home, and there is an approved application in for her now so it should be soon.

so allie's bday is today and me and her were gonna go out for a little last night.  she jumped in the shower and I was feeding eddie, but he hates his stupid cone he has to wear (we actually bought him more of a airport head rest thing to make it more comfy but he still doesn't like it) so I took it off him to let him eat and then I wasn't paying attention to him for about 5-10 minutes and next thing u know he comes running up to me and the bottom of his stomach has a slow drip and I'm wondering what the hell is going on.  I look at him, and what do you know he starting picking at his stitches and that drip was actually a mix of blood and I guess puss!  allie sees this and starts freaking out thinking its infected, that he needs to get another surgery to re-fix it etc, so she calls all these late night animal hospital places and finds one about 20 minutes away.  we drive down there and its in a pretty ****ty area and the first thing they tell us was that there was a shooting nearby and the cops are in the area but still haven't found the person so we were forced into the back room for safety measures smh.  eddie finally gets checked out, they clean him up a bit and give him some painkillers and charge me for the bill: $200.

I then had to drop him off at the vet again today and waiting to hear back on what happened and what more $ I have to spend for this bs, but what a great way to kick off my GF's bday weekend huh?!?

lesson I learned: no matter how sad your dog looks with that cone on DO NOT take it off unless its for like 10 seconds because they immediately will pick at it and cost you $ to fix the damage and deal with all the bs stress that goes along with it.

the vet called me at lunch and apparently eddie did some major damage and now needs to go back under to get re-stitched.  cost?  $650!  so now I have spent:

$250 on initial neutering and nails

$200 on late night hospital trip

$650 on fixing the damage

and oh yeah, its my gf's bday and I still need to buy her gifts/dinner!  great weekend so far!

tell me about it.  I felt so bad cuz he looked upset and with his thick ass neck I couldn't tell if he was having a hard time breathing and the vet said "oh he's fine without it if you look after him" and I had a friend who had a pug who said it was hard to get those thing infected and oh by the way, you would think a dog would be in pain by tugging those stitches but I guess not!

I had a minor version of your problem fish, Andee split her belly open and needed 4 staples, SMH luckily wasn't expensive

damn man that sucks.  my issue was we didn't have his cone on as much as we should the first time around and his stiches were by his stomach (his 2nd ball never dropped) so it was easier for him to pick at them until they got infected.  so yeah I had a stressful few weeks with him and that damn cone but after the 2nd surgery we never took it off and after a few days he got use to it and was pretty much back to normal.

I saw on FB you had some belt on your dog, is that why they got split?

you guys ever consider pet insurance. erm pays $27 a month and they cover 90% of vet bills.

it was def smart for him because bodie was at the vet friday night after getting into erms sleeping pills. he had to stay over night and the bill was over $1000. erm only had to pay like a hundred bucks cause of the insurance, which basically covered 2 years worth of payments haha

how the hell does a dog get into sleeping pills?  haha wow.

I've heard about getting pet insurance but I do not have it mainly because I am already on a plan with my vet for all his shots/checkups so the only thing the insurance would cover me for is emergencies.  I guess it already cost me, but oh well that was more mine and allies fault for not keeping his damn cone on the whole time like we should have.

as you know I was home this past weekend, as was my brothers gf's 5 pound yorkie dog which is great as eddie has been around him a lot and they play all the time.  however for some reason this weekend was a pain in the ass when it came to sleeping as all eddie wanted to do was play him and it really F'ed up my sleeping schedule.  he normally falls asleep around 10-11pm (unless I wake him up to play) and then stays asleep until about 830am with me.  so I figured with another dog around, he would be a lot more active during the day and exhausted at night and sleep all morn with me since I didn't feel like waking up at 830am after drinking all day.  so what does he do?  he wakes up at frigging 630am every day whining to go outside.  so every morn, I'm hungover and tired walking his ass at 630am, stay up with him for another hour or so until my parents wake up and then let them watch out for him and I fall back asleep.  this dog probably got 4 hours of sleep each night and was ready to go the next day like it was nothing.

finally yesterday after 4 days of being active is when it caught up to him.  I think he feel asleep at 930pm last night and then didn't wake up until 9am, almost 12 full hours of sleep haha.  where was this all weekend when I actually had the chance to sleep in??
